Jojo Nothing has happened that I'm aware of, but I did notice in Sainsburys the other day that the in-store pizza counter had a notice saying "Closed due to delivery issues". I think also a surprising amount of things like ready meals are still being affected by the CO2 shortage.

Morning peppers. Being in the middle of a kitchen refit, I broke the habit of a lifetime and bought some ready battered fish from the supermarket. You just stick it in the oven, job done. It looked quite nice in the packet! Also surprisingly cheap at two packs for £4 with two pieces of fish in each. At that cost I guess something had to give. The 'batter' was indescribable and the fish, which purported to be cod, was a sludgy grey colour. I threw the second pack away. Back to fresh fish from the fishmonger.

What do you do with figs? What do they taste like?
  • They taste like figs! very nice sweet and seedy!

Hello from the 'other side' move went like clockwork, house is dreamy, town is glorious and people actually say Good Morning! Mega unpacking session yesterday aided by Nell and James and we squished many boxes and actually took them to the recycling bank in the car park last night. I can see some floor Hoorah! White goods were delivered this afternoon and the only kind of problem we have is a wasps nest in the tree outside the French doors from the kitchen but we're waiting on a call from a pest controller and hopefully e will be able to come soon and remove it. I love it here, it's the home I dreamed of for most of my life, I'm blessed xxx.

    Well done Mrs L.

It's a lovely feeling to be in your dream house. I gave my doorway a hug yesterday, just to remind it. :)

I just eat fresh figs - hold the stem and eat the 'bulb' bit.

As for what they are like to eat, well...

The skin is firm, almost like the skin on a baked rice pudding.

You bite through and the inside is like a fully ripe Banana - soft but not over juicy.

Then, as you chew, the seeds crunch like the pips on a strawberry.

    For taste - that's tricky.

Can you imagine a cross between a melon/plum/blueberry/mulberry?

Sweetish with a hint of molasses and just a tang of berry sharpness in the aftertaste.

As you can tell - I very much enjoy fresh figs :p
That sounds like a classic case of premature extrapolation.

Oh Mrs LW you sound so happy with your new home and surroundings. Long may that last :T. I'm glad that the move went smoothly too !
I noticed in my local Al*is this morning that there were only 2 small chickens left  and I had one of them ! This is unusual for a Friday, the shelf is always full. Perhaps people are buying chicken as a cheaper option to other meat ?
I shall cook my chicken and take it away with us on Monday. While sorting out some food stuff for our holiday I've noticed a few gaps in my food stocks . I've got 6 cartons of passata and only one tin of toms, how did that happen ! Must sort that out a.s.a.p. when I return home in 2 weeks.

    Take care all

    Oh jk0, that's really lovely :)

Mar You could buy a pack of Fig Roll biscuits first, to see if you like the flavour. Don't eat too many figs at one time, they have a laxative effect!
