Excellent post SB! And interesting reading... I really wonder what that lot are up to.. I don't believe for one minute the guv are stockpiling anything - they havent the brains to organise it or anywhere to put it for a start!
  • Yes they do MAR, Ms Munroe had intimated that they all have underground bunkers! that's where they're keeping their stashes of herring! only the best from Aldi though!!!

LOL MrsL! I so love this quote from that article posted by short_bird - talking about the guv :
Or, as the head of one of Britain's biggest food manufacturers put it to me, "That lot couldn't run a fish and chip shop.." :rotfl::rotfl:
  • Bet if they did it would all be caviar fishcakes and only jersey royals for the chips! and maldon salt and champagne vinegar to go on 'em!

:) I wouldn't trust that shower to organise a pi$$-up in a brewery, frankly, and will be pre-postitioning my own supplies and making sure my 1.5 allotments are as productive as possible for 2019 and onwards.

Been up there today in the cool and was enjoying being rained upon. Eventually came away because I'd done 3.5 hrs graft not because I was soaked to the skin. I was as happy as larry to be covered in rainwater rather than perspiration.

  • When you think of how badly the Grenfell Tower fire was handled by the government it is hard to have any confidence in how they would cope in a challenging situation.

 Spooky, I was thinking the same when writing my post but didn't include the thought.

Living proof, don't use your Rumtopf unless you are sure the glaze doesn't contain any heavy metals; glass is best. The lacto-ferments like sauerkraut & kimchi are quite acidic and can leach stuff out of ceramic glazes that you really don't want to ingest. See if you can get hold of any 1.5 or 2 litre Kilner jars, as you can buy fermentation lids for these.
