I just keep stuff that I know we'll eat. Prepping for weather, illness, strikes, pensions failing to arrive in bank
Tins - beans, sardines, mackeral and salmon, tatties (for making soup with), mixed veg, cold meats.
Porridge oats
Lentils
Barley
Broth mix
Dried milk
Dried tatties
Syrup
Jam (diabetic)
Semolina
Custard
Splenda (loads of it)
Flour, all kinds
Very basic stuff, as I know we can live on porridge and soups quite happily along with home made bread - and sponges with custard for afters0 -
MrsLurcherwalker wrote: »We're hoping to move house KARMA and I'll stock us up at the new one if it ever happens (says she 3 weeks into being on the market!) but I'm not carting emergency stocks from one end of the country to the other, I'm using them up instead and saving the housekeeping I would have spent to replace them.I'll re-think what I keep in for us when I do as I'd always kept a good supply of dried pulses and cereals but have worked out now that those will take altogether too much fuel to process in times of adversity and tins of beans etc. being already cooked wouldn't necessarily need even to be heated to make a nutritious meal. I won't have the store room available if we get the house we've found so I'll need to decide what I shall store and I'm interested in what all of you deem necessary and sensible to keep in stock.
Storage is odd, isn't it. I have some hobbies that take up a *lot* of space - genealogy takes a surprising amount when you've been doing it as long as I have, my patchwork stash has grown exponentially, food storage takes a lot, books take a lot, prepster stuff takes a fair amount too. How can a 3 bed house not have enough storage for one person????
:o:o I'm not sure I'm being "necessary and sensible", as you say - I think a lot more culling might be required. OTOH, I have shoes and t shirts etc for the rest of my life ....

Goodish news Daz, as you say
hope you have a good trip.
Bob Don't worry about your pulse. 64 is fine for first thing in the morning even if yours does tend to be higher than that. No medic is going to panic over it, they're much more likely to be pleased, and your heart is not going to get slower and slower and then stop, you know!0 -
It's a glorious 82f here atm.
Brilliant sunshine (a few clouds but nothing threatening) and barely a hint of a breeze.
First time in weeks, I've been able to peg anything out to dry.0 -

Daz Definitely declare it and pay more to be covered. Medical bills in the US can be very high, it’s well worth the extra insurance costs.0

Sun has gone, now covered by cloud, but still a very pleasant 62f. :cool:0
