lost my post so apologies if it reappears out of the ether and it looks like I've posted twice

I was going to say they didn't seem that extreme by the standards of most MSM articles about preppers
It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!
  • Hello ! Have been a follower of mse and this thread particularly for years I think ,not one for online posting on forums generally, but decided to join in as I’ve received so much valuable information from you all and really wanted to say hi there.Around 10 years ago, whilst expecting our third son , after years of worrying about the money mess we seemed unable to extract ourselves from, I decided to take the bull by the horns and sort us out one way or another! One of the very first sites I visited was this one and what an amazing resource it turned out to be.Also read blogs too, frugal queen being the main one,sad she’s gone now, she was very good at the beginning, and I learnt to quilt from her blogs too.Am proud to say we paid off a massive amount of mortgage ,paid off all debt and loans, and built up our savings and pensions too.On one wage. It can be done,it’s hard work, there can be tough choices, but oh my word the piece of mind is so worth it, I was so anxious and depressed back then and it was our own fault.you live and learn. Now I love every day, Because every day we control the money,it doesn’t control us ! Sorry, rambling on a bit,but you all seem like such lovely like minded people. So I hope you don’t mind me joining the party!

    That's not prepping/survival-ism. It's just common sense.

  • Thanks greyqueen , great to be here ( at last!).Am off to watch Monty dons paradise gardens in bed because I’m freezing and the kittens have stolen a whole sofa each! How can such seemingly little things take up so much room? Of course they have the room with the stove on in, dare not disturb them , they’ve been busy screeching round the house and garden all day, one misjudged the pond and hasn’t forgiven anyone for her loss of dignity! Goodnight to you all, am not a night bird, will be asleep at an embarrassingly early time I expect, but I did get up early for a run, don’t be thinking I’m all athletic I’m not, but I do like running , keeps me from turning into a weeble( shows age) .
  • Hi Witchwomble welcome aboard the thread, it sounds as though you have turned your lives around very successfully, very well done the pair of you! You should try living with a lurcher if you want to see just how much room a relatively small hound can take up when they put their minds to it, I'm certain that they are made entirely of elastic and pointy bits but they have extendable noses, legs and tails that can actually be made exactly the length and breadth of any 3 seater sofa they can flomp down on.....go on ask me how I know???

Same thing happened to me, jko, so I went back to main site and entered the forums again - so nice to see the comforting green scheme!
