Foul here today too, it's been driving rain and high winds for most of the evening and night yesterday and no let up today either. Lots of the country roads are awash with deep surface water causing slow traffic and although it's 7 degrees out there the wind is making it feel decidedly colder than that. Girls both having to travel back from Bath where they've had the weekend and SIL and the Grandpickles are travelling back from Manchester in the car, I hope the roads are clear and there are no long hold ups for them, I shall be waiting for the phone call this evening that says all are back where they ought to be and safe.0

We've no snow at all. 48 hours of flawless, sunny but decidedly chilly weather devolved into rain overnight. It's been raining all day thus far with no sign of a flurry of anything. Broadly speaking, whatever happens in Lunnon Town, meterologically speaking, tends to duplicate here.
Hope everyone in snowy climes keeps safe and warm.
As I don't care to garden in the rain, I decided to award myself an At Home day, and have been reading about 500,000 years ago archaeologcy and doing some laundry and mending. Nothing if not eclectic, me.:rotfl:
jk0, inspired thought and prompt action with the steel plates, that'll stop the barstewards getting in. Well done, that man.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Hit a high spot of minus 3 here at mid day and currently minus 5 and dropping. Bright blue skies and sunshine though. Been feeding the birds like mad out the back, and their water keeps freezing.0

Lucky for you.
We've had another fall overnight, giving us about 3" on the gardens.
It's currently falling very lightly (indeed hardly at all), and the weather forecast, at 1200hrs, said the snow will have stopped by tonight.
Judging by the look of the sky, I think they're wrong, and we'll get more snow overnight.0 -

Have you tried putting marbles in the water to stop it freezing solid?
I braved getting dressed and going outside to the local shop and have stocked up on bread, eggs, milk, cold cures etc so if the snow is bad I don't have to go out.
Still sneezing like mad but feeling a bit better."This site is addictive!"

Ping pong balls even better because they float so will always break the surfaceIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0

Dish too wee and shallow for ping pong balls mary. Funny how you always have a houseful of marbles when kids are wee and then they all vanish off the face of the earth..0

I find at least one marble in my lottie soil each year. It's always been farmland or lotties, no reason to be harbouring kiddies' toys.
Mind you, the in-soil presence of a plastic tripod style pretend-cut-glass sugar basin has still not been adequately (or even inadequately) explained.:rotfl:
ETA; One of the three feet on the basin was broken off. I don't know if Miss Marple would find that germane to the investigation, but I thought I better mention it.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Clearly a murder weapon, GQ. The foot will be embedded in the victim's skull, no doubt. Find the corpse & you're halfway to finding the perpetrator... if you want to!
The rain has stopped and the sky is clear, mist is creeping up from the river and it's very, very cold now down here. I will also be breaking ice for the birds to drink tomorrow.Angie - GC Aug25: £374.16/£550 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)0
