If this is the beginning of the end, one son has made the most of it - out on a climbing wall with his girl whilst I & his little brother sit & wait in the carpark.
We may all yet survive but someone had better be making copious apologies. He's writing cheques backed by my good word, so his girl will be got home safe before I Have Words with the intrepid blighter.

Always look on the bright side of life (whistle)
Always look on the light side of life (whistle).....
It's the end of the world as we know it, and I feel fine :cool:That sounds like a classic case of premature extrapolation.

The Kelly kettle cook set and support now has (or will on Monday when I post it) a new mum and a new home who I hope it will be most useful to, nice to re home spare things to someone who needs them!0 -

The time-before-last that the world was ending, I was getting ready for work. I debating doing the dishes before heading out; after all, if the world was gonna end by midday, was it worth it?!
So I left them, and had to wash them later on............Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Pal of mine just got quoted £78 quid to resole & heel a pair of work boots.
Some days, I want to weep at the driven insanity that makes extending the life of trusted old friends cost more than buying new acquaintance.0 -
I'm with you, there.
My previous fridge was functional but ailing. It was going to be £80 just to get a repair person to darken my door for a fault which might (or might not) have been fixable but probably would have required a part.
I went around and around the houses trying to get a better solution than paying nearly 70% of the price of a new appliance just to get an old one looked at. In the end, I gave up and bought a new fridge but I wasn't happy.
Ridiculous about the boots.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Join the clan re trying to keep existing items working:(.
Went into a jewellers to try and keep basically perfectly decent watch going and was quoted £80/£90 as likely charge to service it. After which I went and bought a new watch for £115:( instead.0
