Mrs LW, thats a kind offer.

Loving the hierarchy of needs, thats brilliant!

My prepping currently is decluttering, tidying, and visiting my dentist ... on a deep level, it's trying to safeguard what pension money I have. Lifestyle adjustment (ie different fund to put the dosh in) and drawdown (taking some of it outside of the influence of the companies altogether) are highest priority.

Along with many, many bags of teabags :)

Just saw an interesting video about how we walk nowadays compared with Medieval times: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EszwYNvvCjQ

Should I try to walk differently?

Stashing to watch this one ta.

Am still trying to figure out whether people walk differently in different parts of the country - or the different walk so many have here is down to the much higher:( average age here than my city. I find it quite worrying watching it.....

So if you've got to jump through hoops to prove where you got the money in your bank to buy a house with - how come half of posh London is owned by Russian gangsters?

Same principle in reverse of the old adage "If you owe the bank £1000 it is your problem, if you owe them £1,000,000 then it is their problem!" ;)

Quite, it doesn't hinder them in the least. I remember jumping through hoops to try and open a savings account for the DDs when they were small Nationwide were the worst trying to insist on something with their name and address on like a utility bill - like a three year old gets those!! Eventually they said they would accept my child benefit letter with some photo ID. So in I trotted with their passports only for them to turn round and say they hadn't signed them!! I said through gritted teeth " she's two years old she can't write!!" Fortunately the manager was able to agree to it.
All that for a hundred pounds in- get this- a savings account aimed at children!

  • You may or may not recall that, a few weeks ago, I posted about a series of programmes that I had watched on Netflix, each dealing with a different way in which the world might end.

I can't remember if I told you about the episode about this unknown planet that is meant to crash into the earth, but this is meant to be happening today. Apparently the planet is called something like Nihiglu, not sure of the exact name. This idea seems to have been rebutted by official sciencey bodies.

If it did happen, all life on this planet would cease and I'd be especially disappointed since some of this week's shopping was a restock of the stockpile. I'd hate to think it could go to waste. No sign of it yet but as it is an American programme, the end of the world might not be at the same time according to the clock though obviously at the same time in terms of the event.
So I'm having a lot of cups of tea since they could be my last, even though I don't really believe in this imaginary planet and drink an awful lot of tea anyhow.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back

Nibiru - the guy who has been claiming the world would end today is now saying that today is just the 'start of the end of the world'.

The Daily Wail is full of it (of course) Except they seem to be conflating it with Biblical prophecies about the start of the Tribulation. Seems to have escaped their notice that if the earth is destroyed there won't be anyone left to go through the Tribulation

Puts me in mind of the Monty Python Spanish Inquisition sketch where they burst into the room, too late and the programme ends with them saying "Oh b*gger!"

I was at boarding school when the programme aired and the sixth form were allowed to watch it. We all shrieked with laughter and a very red faced nun got up and stalked over to the television and turned it off. Made us laugh even more!

The world gets more like Monty Python every day. Or else my mind does.

As we and our planet saunter off into the sunset on this Final Day, let's pay a tribute to those fine gentlemen of the Python team by singing one last song.....all together now!

Always look on the bright side of life (whistle)
Always look on the light side of life (whistle).....
