Quaylism of the Day:
We are ready for any unforeseen event that may or may not occur.

A lovely little article on the msn newsfeed this morning showing John Kelly sitting just behind Melania T with his head in his hands and his face hidden during the latest 'rant' from dear Don yesterday at the UN Assembly, apparently Mr.T 'ad libbed' on his speech, now there's a surprise!0

Amongst all the leaflets on display at the GP surgery today. I was astonished to find a 'Household Emergency Plan' produced by Voluntary Action Cumbria. It even has a checklist for a 'grab bag'!
I'm sorry but members here can no longer claim to be alternative or barking. We are almost mainstream.....0 -

Here's today's Quaylism for you to ponder: "What a waste it is to lose one's mind. Or not to have a mind is being very wasteful. How true that is."
That's either very profound or b*ts**t crazee, innit? :rotfl:Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

I've been picking up a couple of 'instant' just add boiling water items each time I've shopped over the past few weeks, we've been talking about winter on the Preparing for Winter thread and it seems like a sensible insurance measure to have things in that will feed us by boiling the kettle. Looking at world weather this year it seems to be more extreme than usual in all areas, I know we aren't in the line of hurricanes etc. but we get the odd batch of Atlantic depressions whipping across us on the Jet Stream most years and I wonder if this years will be stronger than we're normally used to because of the weather in the areas where the hurricanes DO form. If we get very high winds we may, only may get disruptions to the power supply over larger areas than usual and if we have the means to heat water i.e the Kelly Kettle we can at least have hot drinks and packet meals and with the woodstove and some solar lights and candles/tea lights be warm and as comfortable as can be under the circumstances. All I've got have good long best before dates and are things I'd pick up for the Armageddon cupboard when they were on offer anyway so nothing will be wasted and a little extra will see us through any weather events this year and early next might send our way.0

So Tweedledee says Tweedledum is mentally deranged.
Pots? Kettles?
And the world holds its breath.I believe that friends are quiet angels
Who lift us to our feet when our wings
Have trouble remembering how to fly.0
