I have never looked at China as anything other than very clever, very subtle, and very effective at doing what they want to do. In a way it's a pity that we are the total opposite.

Not sure, but I think Napoleon said that ..... and that was quite a while ago :)

...if only by sheer weight of numbers...

I thought the Chinese operated these days by cyber warfare? - so I guess the N. Koreans are maybe getting a bit of that going on....

    Hmmm.
Things were bad enough for the American tourist industry before this. I wonder how many people have decided not to book flights for later in the year given the current sabre rattling? Or are planning on leaving it to the last minute?

:p I'd be bliddy worried if I'd booked a holiday in the USA but because of the rumblings under Yellowstone and the general crime levels.

I'm no expert, but the ones I read seem to believe that Yellowstone is not likely to pose a problem; the hotspot that caused it has moved on and the current quakes are caused by the magma reservoir cooling, shrinking and settling. How they know this is quite literally all science to me, but they've been absolutely right about the likely behaviour of other volcanoes.

Not planning to visit the USA again any time soon! But DS1 is... New England, though.

The man is a total raving loony - his own words here from zerohedge-

Today's punchline, however, was Trump threat to North Korea that “things will happen to them like they never thought possible” and concluded that "people of North Korea should be careful, or they’re going to be in trouble like they’ve never been before."
All the eloquence of a turnip eh
  • Ooh ooh Macho Man incarnate eh...

As for the thought of belting the hell out of the North Koreans being seen as the best of a lot of bad options = huh?

Wonders why the "just leave them to sit and stew in their own juice and do nowt" option is deemed not to be an option on the table?

Maybe I'm missing something - but I can't see why Fatman can't just be left to leap up and down and yell threats at us at intervals and be deemed to just be "punching in a paper bag he can't get out of".
