Looked up Hawthorn berries in webMD and it looks like a good one! My BP was a bit high this a.m. And DH always runs above normal triglycerides. Need to read more!
Ok so now on my list is lemon balm (plant or seed), Vicks, and hawthorn berriy supplement.Overprepare, then go with the flow.

I am calm again
I quite like therapies such as Reiki and reflexology but think all treatments, conventional or not, should be tailored for the individual. Holistic care
Also, don't forget the good old bread poultice for drawing out infectionNot dim.....just living in soft focus

To those wanting lemon balm plant, please note it's related too mint and like it's cousin needskeeping in a large pot, as it will take over your garden[ask me how I know!], it will spread by seed as well as root spread and branches touching soil. So once you'v got it you should be OK to use a lot of it[it makes a lovey tea]. hth£71.93/ £180.000

Good advice re lemon balm. It does spread like mad.
My medicine cabinet has all the usual suspects in it. Over the counter analgesia, muscle pain cream, relief for upset stomachs etc. Nothing that will save your life if your leg is hanging off but plenty of things that will make a nasty burn or cut easier to deal with.
L*dl and Al*di often do first aid kits for cars which have bandages and scissors of good quality. I have one of those in the house and one in the car. Plenty of flu and cold meds, burns creams and dressings, antihistamines in case of allergic reactions, calamine lotion, tiger balm, tea tree oil, clove oil and I swear by arnica for bruising.
Not going to help me in the Zombie Apocalypse but I do feel better for having a well stocked medicine cupboard. I live in a part of the country without 24 hours shops so I do get a little paranoid about running out of painkillers in the middle of the night.Life is too short to waste a minute of it complaining about bad luck. Find joy in the simple things, show your love for those around you and be grateful for all that you have.0 -
I always keep plentiful supplies of paracetamol and antihistamine tablets.
I've been shopping and now have supplies of toilet roll etc. Feeling calmer.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
My last word on the subject of NHS rationing. MITSTM has held the opinion she holds for some time but she seems to have mellowed since she made this post a few years back so we can be grateful for that as the opinion then was pretty harsh:eek: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.php?p=28297555&postcount=48
Any tips from anyone on medicines which have a double duty? I'm always looking for ways to make more space in my cupboards so if one thing served several purposes that would be helpful.
Sorry to hear about your rough day Daz278. It's not easy to watch others in pain. xLife is too short to waste a minute of it complaining about bad luck. Find joy in the simple things, show your love for those around you and be grateful for all that you have.0 -
I just wanted to pop in and ask a bit more about lemon balm. You see, I have this dream that when I have a garden that any lawn space will be replanted with something fragrant such as mint or creeping thyme so that it smells lush when you walk accross it. I'm thinking lemon balm might also come into it. This is partly inspired by chamomile lawns. Do those of you who have experience of growing it think it would work as part of the medley?
My plant identifying task this month is to really get to grips with knowing the difference between cow parsley and hemlock. I don't plan to eat any at this juncture, too risky, but there is loads of it around here and I feel it is a useful sort of thing to know, particularly given hemlock can cause skin lesions and so it is at the very least useful to know what not to handle and brush up against.0 -

I'm not sure that Lemon balm would work for a lawn. It's quite fleshy but I'm happy to be proved wrong if anyone has experience of it. Creeping thyme is amazing though!Life is too short to waste a minute of it complaining about bad luck. No worries, I'll just keep some in my imaginary planters of spreading herbs. I'd have to keep some separate for culinary and medicinal uses anyway.
This is all still in the very early stages of dreaming. It is part of how I while away long winter evenings when I'm trying to put all of the pennies towards the deposit fund. I would imagine there will be other priorities for the first few years of the garden anyway, I just like to gather ideas like a magpie, ready for when I need them.0
