Just had an awful thought. High value voids wouldn't mean elderly and disabled bungalows would it?
Bungalows use a lot of space and tend to have quite a bit of green space around them (i.e communal gardens) so I can see that they would have a great deal of value to developers
Much like allotments
And school playing fields
Something else which makes me  when there are so many brownfield sites available.
I'm turning into Victoria Meldrew :rotfl:Not dim.....just living in soft focus

Doveling hi Our little bungalow is a two bed one, very small with very little room for storage. It is perfect for our needs though and we do love it and where we are is such a nice area. We have a small garden back and front, and our own driveway which is a bonus, never had one before. There are playing fields very close to us and it is well used by the local football teams and children alike. We had a brand new development build new homes (social housing not private) about 7 years ago now and there are lots of young families in them. Our little area has been built about 13/14 years ago I believe, also social housing. I am going to buy a little camping stove in B and M when I next go into town and cartridges for it, thank you Bob for your advice. I have stocked up well too food wise and have a shop coming in the morning. I will be thinking of what we can grow next season too for sure, and will help my daughter with hers.Do a little kindness every day.;)0

My daughter, a qualified first aider, has been bemoaning our dreadful first aid supplies. So today I have upgraded the lot. What we had was shockingly out of date.
It probably cost about £20 so there was no excuse.
The only problem I have is some out of date hypodermic needles that the pharmacy can't take. Should my surgery take them, do you think?
I need to buy some more as we are going to S.Africa next week including Swaziland and Lesotho. I want some in my emergency first aid kit. Ideas?I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
That sounds exciting and a little bit scary VJsmum! Hope you have an amazing time :j
margaret54 That sounds a really lovely place to liveI think we'll be stuck in our shared ownership semi for the foreseeable future, but if necessary we can always install a chairlift as our neighbours have done.

I should think your local hospital will have a sharps bin you could put them in.
Failing that, try your local drug rehab centre.
They usually have a bin (or maybe even a door mounted depositing point, for when they are closed), where you can dispose of them.0 -
VJs mum, you may also have luck googling to find a local needle exchange. They should have a way to dispose of them even if you don't need to partake of their full service. I would imagine it is within their remit to keep dodgy ones from entering circulation so I don't think they'd have a problem taking them.0

I googled 'first aid kit for traveling.' Up came a great list of sites to view. Are you going to a remote area? You might add that to your search words if it applies.Overprepare, then go with the flow.

Doveling, nobody knows what the flip is going on with that Act, it's a pig's breakfast. I can't see councils willingly parting with sheltered or disabled-adapted housing. Some of our DA houses cost north of £30k to adapt and I think you'd have to prise them from Housing's cold dead hands......
The short answer is I don't know but, as and when info becomes available, I will share.
To me, it's vile, yet another kick in the teeth for those who are at the bottom of the housing pile, anyway. And a potential kick for those who may, through adverse circumstances yet to be encountered, find themselves needing such housing in the future. Barstewards.Today, I have shed a useless-to-me item via freegle and will be changing out some of the 2 litre water bottles shortly. I have a lot of stored water, but when you need it, it isn't actually a lot.
Co-incidentally (and why water is on my mind) I came home to my 6 monthly water bill which I just paid online. Works out at 33p a day which is fabulous; potable water on tap and sewage disposal for well under the price of a portion of chips. Or even a mars bar. I consider myself very lucky to live in a developed country in the 21st century.
Another thing which I was thinking is relevent to prepping is my current weight-loss campaign. I'm already reaping health benefits and expect to see more. If one ends up in a troublesome situation, excess poundage won't be an asset. So perhaps working on personal trimness and fitness, insofar as one can within the limitations of health problems or age-related issues, should be considered a prep?
Not that I'm off to run a marathon, or even a 5 k, but pegging away at it in my own way.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Health is a major factor in prepping isn't it - having ME cuts down our options a hell of a lot in some ways.
I'm wondering if there will be any change with the elect & gas suppliers when we leave the EU - considering they're all European-owned. Even our coal, some of it comes from Germany.0 -
Hi mardatha, I have a few friends who have ME, sorry to hear you have it too.Do a little kindness every day.;)0
