Both mine and Mrs dzug's are in (different) banks, but no letter yet. ISTR that last year the letter arrived some time after the money so I wouldn't worry.

Having said that the letters, both dated 17 November, have just arrived. I was tempted to blame the Royal Mail, but they were handled by one of those bulk mail companies so that could be unfair.

  • I discovered £200 had arrived in my current account but the letter did not arrive for another few days. My DH is now eligible by age, but did not get anything, presumably because he is not drawing a state pension and the money has to go into the account they use to pay pensions into. In any case, as margaretclare said, it's one household, so £200 is just the same amount, whether paid to one, or to two of us separately

I received my £100 about 10 or so days ago, however OH still waiting for his payment and we both have same surname. He received his letter last week.

Letter finally arrived today. Bank statement shows money going into bank on 21st November and letter received today is dated 17th November, so there must be some sort of delay in posting off letters.

I deferred pension, but I must have been lucky because I've not had any problem with actually getting Winter Fuel Allowance. I've even had a form from Inland Revenue asking me to confirm that I'm not claiming pension yet, so everyone seems to be organised.

I've noticed, however, that I didn't get the £10 Christmas bonus, so this must only go to those actually claiming pension, but I'm not going to quibble about £10.

Thanks for your replies. Hope your missing letters arrive eventually.
  • Mine was in my account on 21st November. I have deferred my pension and did not have to apply for the fuel payment. It all just arrived.

    Hi

I'm no where near 60 but a good friend is.

She lives in her sisters house (sister and brother-in-law live abroad) does not pay rent but looks after house etc for them.

When she turns 60 next year, can you still claim for the heating allowance?

    She lives alone)

Yes - it's purely age based
