O/S Daily Thread for Saturday 9th July

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning all

Hugs to Hilstep, good luck to JackieO and her DD.
Unfortunately the baby didn't get the memo about going to bed at 6, it was ten before she fell asleep and she was awake by 2am.

So I have 3 loads of washing on the line and I paid the milkman at 4am as I heard him putting my milk on the doorstep, he was a bit surprised to see me.

Yesterday after tea the DGC played with water balloons and got soaked, then they got dry and into their jammies and did drawing until it was time for bed, the others went to bed on time but the baby woke them up as she was screaming the house down as she wanted her daddy. Hopefully she will go back to sleep soon.

Have a good day everyone
Hugs Hester

Morning everyone.

Thanks for the thread HH.

I'm off this morning but wanted to wish JackieO a good walk today.

Forecast is awful for west Scotland so my wet weather gear will be in full use.

Thinking of everyone going through tough times.

Happy Saturday to all.

Morning all. Another one wanting to wish JACKIE all the best for the Race for Life. Hope it's not too warm for you.

I had a bad night. I couldn't get to sleep as I was too warm and ended up back downstairs at 2.00 for a while. A muggy weekend is forecast so expect the same for a few nights to come.

I don't envy you HESTER with your marathon DGC minding. Hope all goes as well as it can.

No fixed plans for today, other than washing our bedding, but may pop in town on the bus at some point. And, I am ashamed to say, I still haven't got the new steam cleaner out of the box!! Although I have looked at the instructions and was put off by the enormous number of bits and pieces in there! Today is the day I am telling myself!

Have a good day all and (((HUGS))) to all the poorlies. GERS have a good trip and I hope the weather isn't too unkind to you. Take care all xx

Morning everyone,

Overcast and drizzly here at the moment but very warm.

Had a lovely day at the races yesterday, don't get many excuses nowadays to really dress so went full works with flowery silk dress and high high heels, well wedges as know from bitter experience the problems of spike heels on damp grass! The men looked very smart in their suits and we were glad made the effort. Enjoyed people watching, some ladies looked very elegant, some not so!
The sun shone, the horses looked beautiful and glossy, I may have had a glass of something cold and bubbly :)
Between us we managed to trouble the bookies on most races, I had one good winner and a couple of places so come home with only slightly less than I took with me. Only put in my purse what I am happy to lose, do enjoy a flutter on the course.
Back down to earth today, need to do some food shopping this morning and then off to Bill this afternoon.
Good luck to JACKIE and her DD, pink army on the march!
Wishing you a lovely holiday GERS.

Have a good day everyone, take care folks x

Speky How's your girlfriend doing? X

Good luck JackieO! x

Have a good trip Gers x

Scampi has been merrily digging up the strip of earth where the old fence was, so we've filled it in, reseeded it and covered it with a couple of wire fence panels. It looks messy but in 2-3 weeks we can remove it and we'll have a lawn again. It'll never be a nice lawn, it's been Scampified :D It's in his nature to dig so I'm going to encourage him to dig in a couple of places near the fence, rather than right in the middle.

My body's in shock - healthy eating and exercise all in one day, lol. I'm very achy but feel all stretched out. I'm going to do the same today but put a little bit less effort into the exercise, I think I was too fired up about it and overdid it a bit.

I had plans for a long walk and pottering around in the garden today but it's started raining. There's not much to do in the house, I'll put a load in the washing machine and flick a duster around then see if I can find something to do. I might put a film on this afternoon.

Morning, ((((((((((hugs))))))))))) if you need one. Very damp here. OH is supposed to be bowling this afternoon, his first away game for some time. I hope he is ok.

I need to do the Friday clean today, did not do it yesterday, went to Aldi instead.

Good luck Jackie O for the race today.

Bowls match cancelled too wet. Rain has stopped here, the sun is now shing. OH has gone for his siesta, he is going out to the garden when he gets up. I am working on the instructions for the zipper bags for the quilting group.

I was up at 6am so I have had breakfast and just got out of the shower. Sitting here in a towel :rotfl:

We had planned to go to the zoo today, will watch how the weather goes for the next hour before I make some sarnies up. DH will be home from work in an hour, then we will decide if we go. Yesterday cleared to a lovely bright day, so here is hoping that today will do the same, if not we will go to MK.

Good luck to JackieO for today and to everyone else who is doing race for life :T:T:T

Good morning,

I'm making a rare Saturday morning appearance as I'm work to start my monster shift. We've an event on an looking to attract 3,000 + however the drizzly rain may effect that unfortunately.

Tru, how funny you should ask. My GF has an outside postbox at her front gate however a wasps nest has manifested itself in there the past week but we all said we had to get rid of them and get the mail! Yesterday was that day. Covered head to toe in clothes, scarves, oven gloves etc her dad took all the mail out and I think then made some calls to get rid of them for good. One of the items was a letter from the NHS - THE ALL CLEAR!!! Oh how relieved we all were and cause for celebration. She's now to go for check ups every 6 months which of course, we're happy to do. Thank you for asking and thanks again to everyone for your support during the last few weeks.

Last night the GF and I used the Groupon voucher I had bought, fajitas for 2 for £8 and they were really nice! By the time I bought us drinks and a side it cost me £9 in this months budget, bargain! I then went past the SM and got some bits and bobs then we wen't home for an early night and fell asleep watching Bad Neighbours.

So a long today today which will mean a relaxed one tomorrow, including a long lie.

Gers - Enjoy the break. Hopefully the weather is better there than it is here in North Lanarkshire.
Jackie - All the best today!

Have a nice day everyone :)
