My 21 year old who has crippling shyness goes to local meetups and she has loved it, her first was a very cliquey indian meal and she came home in tears as they ignored her but she persevered and now goes out weekly and has made herself a little social life from it, small steps but good small steps, lots of luck x
I think it's worth giving these things three goes as it can take time, and take different activities and attendees, to break into conversations and see if you'll make friends.Don't listen to me, I'm no expert!0 -
I used to run a singles club/dating agency. We had weekly meetings in a pub, or a meal, or bowling, a varied programme of events. New people would ring me first to ask how it works, some of them were so very shy and did not want to come by themselves. I arranged to meet them in the car park as they arrived, have a chat, and bring them into the group and introduce them to someone they could talk to. I was the meet and greeter.
It was amazing to see the changes in them, from the very shy, in a few weeks they would be chatting to everyone and be full of confidence. All it takes is a little effort to make the first move. Yes, I was invited to the first wedding, and there were more, people found partners, but the best of all was that people made new friends as well. It gave them a social life.
ilonaI love skip diving.
