We would not help the OP by leading them to believe that 8+ hours of caring entitled them to CA when it clearly doesn't. As miss biggles points out there is a big gap between 8 and 35.
The OP didn't ask about claiming CA anyway and has given reasons why.
The OPs question was around claiming he disability element of WTC. Even if hours were increased to 16 per week she'd need to be receiving or have received a qualifying benefit eg PIP.0 -
It's really the other way round - he is getting SDP so that he can pay for help because no-one is getting CA for looking after him.
Wouldn't the easiest solution be for you to claim CA for looking after him?
OP didn't ask about CA, but it was suggested here. Fbaby pointed out why that may not be an option, and here we are...!
Benefits advice should always be holistic, just because only one benefit is enquired about doesn't preclude looking at other options to explore what's best for the person.
For people not knowing the background with the son, CA would appear worth exploring.

sorry, i was joking with the -50% output... < to clarify.
still think they should reference post #22 though, if not already.
remember reading the old post about LHA / rental problems if same person > seems OP offers ALOT of care, beyond ironing ?
(unless mistaken (sorry if so)).

I enquired about wtc "only".
I decided it's not for me as I couldn't cope
with the extra 8 hours work a week.
Some good news.....Unknown to me my husband asked for a payrise & found out he's got it
I actually feel a huge weight of my shoulders
.
Note:
My caring duties are 20+ hrs a week (NOT 8)
& (NOT 35) as my MIL is also providing some care, to help.
Bananas123, I knew you were joking & it made me laugh :rotfl:Kindness costs nothing
