I have to lose a considerable amount of money and take it like a man ?
The only common sense approach that has been suggested was to provide evidence to prove my case. As I have repeatedly stated I am more than happy to do that when I am given the opportunity.
In the meantime I should suck it up right ?
No you should act hysterically and accuse a bank with assets worth over £35 billion of stealing £20,000 from you. Seems to be working so far, guess theyve already opened the account back up?0 -
I wonder if this is the way that the OP approached the Yorkshire Bank?
The OP's annoyance at not being able to withdraw his money is understandable.
However, he says that he is familiar with money laundering regulations etc.
As must have been reported many, many times on this forum, even faster payments on well used current accounts have been delayed for checking.
The OP chose to request a foreign business contact to pay a relatively large sum into his little used savings account - as I said in my first post, I am surprised that this was not queried at the time.
At the least he might have rung YB to advise them of the expected payment.
You seem to be obsessed with the verbiage I choose to employ to emphasise my outrage at the actions of The Yorkshire bank.
If I re write my original post will the facts be any different ?
Are you really saying that I should change my tone, show a little reverence, and wait patiently in the hope that one day someone at the bank might tell me why they wont let me have my money ?
Do you really think that what I say on here will influence the banks policy ???0 -

Earlier your comment wasAnd lets get some perspective here £20k a lot of money ? Really ?
And why should you "lose" the money? Have you any reason to suppose that the money in the account will not be released when the misunderstanding has been resolved?0 -

How many working days has it actually been ?0 -

What is happening to you right now is a kin to getting stopped by a security guard when leaving a shop. Its not nice and its embarrassing but it would be unfair to accuse the guard of molesting you whilst searching. They are doing their job next time try not to act shifty and draw attention to yourself.
Nothing that you put on this forum is going to get you access to your money any quicker either.0 -

I doubt it - but a reasonable attitude to other posters and to the bank might elicit a more sympathetic response.
From a personal perspective, I can remember one or two occasions when I was outraged at the attitude of certain institutions but in the end I have learned the lesson in this fable:

Again someone else that thinks what I say here will influence the bank.
Not so smart are we.
I dont get this reverence to the Bank.
Can I remind you what your esteemed leader said about The Yorkshire Bank when they were handed down a record fine for lying to the regulator.
Martin Lewis, founder and editor of MoneySavingExpert.com, called Yorkshire and Clydesdale’s behaviour “a disgrace”.
“I’m not convinced this is an isolated incident,” he added.
(the quote is from the Yorkshire Post website, as a new member I cannot post links)
Do you find Mr Lewis's language hysterical ?0 -

Have you ever seen martin lewis. The guy is quite hysterical most of the time.
If you read a few posts after i agree that your words on here are unlikely to reach the bank but i also insinuated your words on here are unlikely to do much apart from leading to you arguing with with the likes of me.
Ive got no issues with the problem it is a problem, just dont accuse them of stealing your money, if thats the case, it will easily be resolved by contacting the police. Go on, try it.0 -

As I have already said - I have no correspondence, no verbal answers, nothing.
No one has told me that they are investigating and I should wait patiently.
The only thing I can tell you is that I had some money paid into an instant access account. I cannot get my hands on the money by any method, and no one will discuss the matter.
The complaints dept, customer support, the branch, the area manager, no one knows where my money is and why it is not being released.0 -

I have no idea.
I do not know when they blocked the account.0
