I count interesting as rare and/or cool or stands out in some way.

    For ~£15k or less
TVR Tuscan, Fiat coupe, Toyota IQ, citroen cactus, lotus elise, lexus LS 600h, vauxhall ampera/chevvy volt, mazda rx8 (even if it only stands out for emptying your wallet)

Nothing by VW, peugeot, ford etc.

There's probably a larger variety of new cars now than there was years ago.

Ok, many share a platform but the range of vehicles and shells sitting on top are incredibly varied

How on earth is a Citroen Cactus an interesting car? They are the dullest thing I've ever had the displeasure of looking at/sitting in.

When I was a lad (yes they did have cars that far back) Ford did a small, a medium & a large car, as did Vauxhall, Rootes & BL (or whatever they were called then). There were a few sports cars, some exotic expensive models you rarely saw & that was about it. Now there are a myriad of manufacturers all making a wide range of models, surely there must be something interesting in all that lot?
Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.

Safety testing, especially for pedestrians, explains the loss of pop-up headlights, and the big bulging front ends that cars have. There's a big squishy area above the engine to absorb people if they land on it.

Anyway, there are STACKS of interesting cars, if you don't buy new ones.

Volume manufacturers have so many rules to stick to, you need to go to one that's below a certain number per year (is it 2,000?) to find the interesting stuff that's not caught up in red tape. Unfortunately such small numbers means you can't take advantage of the costs of mass manufacture, so you'll not be getting a car for under £15,000.

Not sure if some of these are under £15,000, and some most certainly aren't:
Toyota GT86/Subaru BRZ, Nissan 350Z, 370Z, Ford Mustang, Mazda MX-5, RX-8, Fiat 124(?), Alfa Romeo Brera, GTV, Porsche Boxster, BMW Z4...

The designers now have to make cars pedestrian friendly so thick people can walk in front of them. The US/EU has set low carbon emmission targets so the designers have to feed that into the computer too so all cars are very similar.

Mini Cooper Coupe - I have one, great car, nice styling, not to everyone's taste, good value, reminds me of my MG Midget I had in the '70s

    Cheers fj

    What's interesting about it?

I've always had unusual cars (cheaper to buy them when the production stops) but I'm not sure I'd call them interesting. TBH I don't know if there's much out there more generic than a modern Mini these days.
