car rental vandalised
So I rented a car for a month and just 2 days after the rental, my car has been vandalised. Some sad people scratched all the doors with keys.
Unfortunately I didnt take any super cover, so I will have to pay a massive excess when i return the car.
I made police compliant and took crime reference number.
Any suggestions as to how can I get away with this with minimal financial loss!?
much appreciated

You could compare your massive excess against paying for repairs before handing the car back and take the cheapest option0

Time travel and catch the offender before he damages it or take a lower excess?
You dont have much luck with hire cars do you.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Yep, time travel and pay for the excess protection.0

Why didn't you take out any independent excess cover when renting the car?. I would have thought it would have been a top priority for you considering your previous experience.
It looks like your going to end up paying alot of money because you wanted to save around £20 or £40 for the year!0 -
Best thing to do is take out a 0% balance transfer card and do the swop after the rental company takes the excess, you dont want to be paying interest on top of the excess.
Unlucky to say the least.0 -
Never ever rent a car without the extra coverage that they offer.
I thought everybody knew that. I don't know any sensible person that wouldn't pay the tiny extra amount.
I would advise against trying to get it fixed though, if they spot the repairs, and cheap repairs tend to be obvious to the trained eye, then there will be more problems further down the line.

Don't infer in any way shape or form that the OP may be a troll.
You will get complaints from the forum police and a yellow card.
Much better to just let the forum fill up.....
Depends whether the suggestion of trolling is reasonable, and isn't aimed at every other new poster though doesn't it?0 -

That's not very MSE. The amount that hire companies charge is scandalous and means that hirers are reluctant to add it. Better to purchase annual excess insurance for £40 and be covered for multiple drivers than pay somewhere towards that a day...0
