Going to Greece on August 29th - when to buy euros?

Hi guys
Im going to Greece on August 29th for a week. I thought I would be clever and buy my euros from Tescos to lock myself into the rate (becasue it will probably fall) or cancel if it rises. Ive just been on the phone to Tescos and I can only order up to 7 days before I go away.

Ive read Martins post here http://!!!!!!!.com/hf6c3ty . I dont want to get a special card just for a week's holiday in Greece. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Ive got a Lloyds credit card. Could I use that to spend out there instead?
Thanks

I don't understand. What business is it of Tesco when you go on holiday and how would they know?

Anyway they are probably one of the worst choices, be more clever and use Revolut, it takes only a few minutes to sign up, load with your debit card and exchange to euros immediately or whenever. Totally free and best possible rates, except 2% charge for withdrawals over 650€ per month.

hmmm, Ive just installed the app on my phone and it looks good. So this gets the cheapest exchange rate at the point of spending? Why doesnt everyone use this?

    Whose app?
Anyway- I tend to track the rate here on http://travelmoney.moneysavingexpert.com/
every so often for a few days or weeks before I travel, then buy when the rate seems best.

Right now, Tesco will cost £20 more for 500 Euros than the cheapest rival local to me, so I can't see me using them, irrespective of their 7-days rule?

In fact, although I can't predict the future, I'm willing to bet that as the rate is so carp right now (one of the few downsides of the Brexit vote; buying 500 today would cost me almost £50 more than my best trade last year!) it's almost bound to bounce better before August.

So why bother locking into a rubbish rate with an overpriced supermarket Bureau?

    Wait and see?
