    Thank you for all replys,i went into my programmes and removed some programmes that I didn't recognise!.this seems to have removed some,i will try some of the suggestions and hopefully get rid of more,thanks again folks.
    Ads are normally in sites you view online and not in programmes. Removing programmes you don't recognise is not a good idea.

    You need an ad blocker for your browser. As asked above, what browser are you using?

    If you have pop ups appearing when you are not online try malwarebytes and install a decent anti virus.

    I'm betting on a whole host of spy/mal/crapware being installed.

    Hi

    You could edit c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts file with notepad...

    # Copyright (c) 1993-2009 Microsoft Corp.
    #
    # This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
    #
    # This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
    # entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
    # be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
    # The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
    # space.
    #
    # Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
    # lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
    #
    # For example:
    #
    # 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
    # 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host

    # localhost name resolution is handled within DNS itself.
    # 127.0.0.1 localhost
    # ::1 localhost
    #

    127.0.0.1 localhost
    127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain
    127.0.0.1 local
    255.255.255.255 broadcasthost
    ::1 localhost
    fe80::1%lo0 localhost

    #channel 4
    0.0.0.0 cat.nl.eu.criteo.com
    0.0.0.0.2a7e9.v.fwmrm.net
    0.0.0.0 static.criteo.net
    0.0.0.0 adm.fwmrm.net
    0.0.0.0 576982.fls.doubleclick.net

    While it is not very fair, Channel 4 wont run with adblock running in my Firefox Browser, so I just added a few lines to prevent the worst. Turn off/Disable adblocker for Channel 4. I watch more of my programs and less of their popups.

    You can use lists with thousands of entries should you need to supplement adblock etc.

    Search with DuckDuckGo "windows 10 hosts file".

    I think this method has already been suggested.

    I use adblock plus and no script. Together they block everything.

    Just download Adblock Plus, it works for me, although I cannot read the Telegraph any more.

    I can read the Telegraph still with it, no problem. Just can't read the Daily Mirror! ;-)

    Thanks, I like blocking the right hand side bit, including the fact that the text then fills more of the screen and therefore less scrolling.

    I'll have to see if I can apply similar to other websites.

    I find uBlock Origin to really work as if it lands on a blocked page to that page on a temp basis .Useful as many referral sites are listed on some adblockers .

    Try utilising the Opera Browser in that case.

    Run scans with AdwCleaner and the Junkware Removal Tool
