Just realised my intro doesn't really give any clue as to what happened and what I'm appealing, so have changed/added to it slightly...

On **/06/2016, I came home to find a Parking Charge Notice from Smart Parking, dated **/05/2016.

    Background:-

On **/05/2016, a car park ticket was legitimately purchased for vehicle **** *** at the CO-OP car park on Scalford Road, Melton Mowbray, on the understanding that the numerical digits of the vehicle registration were required. Therefore '**' was inputted into the machine and a ticket was purchased for up to a 2 hour stay, having paid £1. This ticket was purchased for vehicle **** *** and displayed on the windscreen. The vehicle was parked in the car park for less than 2 hours. A copy of the purchased car park ticket receipt is attached to this appeal.

I appealed to Smart Parking who rejected my appeal on **/06/2016. I am appealing as the registered keeper of this vehicle, with VRN **** ***.

I dispute that I am liable for the alleged parking charge. I wish to appeal against the charge on the following grounds:-

    Looks fine.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Okay so that's it all submitted...

I selected other even tho it was saying other would have less chance of success?!

I uploaded the whole appeal as a pdf doc and then a copy of the purchased car park ticket as a pdf also. That was it in terms of uploaded 'evidence'. In the max 2000 characters reason for appeal box I just put see attached pdf for full reasons of appeal, hope that's okay.

Very nervous now. Hopefully it doesn't take too long and will have good news soon. Will keep you posted!

    Thanks again :)

    Hi all,

So 16 days have passed, still not heard anything...the Popla site login is still showing on stage 2, 'waiting for operator information and evidence - in progress'.

How long is an acceptable passage of time for them to respond?! Am I in for a long wait? Was really hoping it would be with an assessor by now!

    Thanks,

    Alex

Blimey...:eek: Okay thank you for letting me know, hopefully I'll be back in 3-6 weeks with some good news then!! Cheers
  • POPLA allows the Operator 21 days to submit their evidence. PPCs usually leave it to the last minute to either a) concede defeat or b) plough on and submit an evidence pack.

Hopefully Smart will select option a)

Option a) would be fantastic! Thanks Edna :)

    Well, would you believe it...

    Dear Mr **********

Thank you for submitting your parking charge Appeal to POPLA.

An Appeal has been opened with the reference ***********.

Smart Parking have told us they do not wish to contest the Appeal. This means that your Appeal is successful and you do not need to pay the parking charge.

    Yours sincerely

    POPLA Team

I cannot thank you guys, this forum and espically Coupon-mad for all the help, information and time you've given. I haven't told my elderly neighbour yet as have only just received the email at work but fair to say he'll be over the moon, pleased as punch!! It's frightening to think just how many people are paying up the £60 through fear and bullying from these private parking companies.

Anyway, apart from saying thank you very much, is there anything else I need to do now?!

    So happy!!
