  • Love it cover it needs to be less than 6 months old and I can't find any decent comparisons for the rest. I don't trust feefo!

Love it cover it says on the quote page 'we cover devices up to 36 months old'

I've not gone through the whole process so don't know exactly. Just went by what the site says.

Edit just clicked through and you have to tick the box that says 'my device is less than 36 months old'

Self insure doesn't really work unless you have £600 to put away. Say I decide to put £30 a month away. What happens if I lose my phone after 9 months? I've got £270 when I need £619 to replace my phone. At £30 a month it would be 20 months before I had enough to replace my phone should I lose/damage it.

When was the last time you lost a phone and how many have you lost?. I think the answer to that question will determine if self insuring is worth it or not.

I personally have never lost of broken a mobile phone in my life. The only item of value that I have ever lost which I carry in my pocket was my car key, which I only lost because I waded through a river. So for me it's not worth getting insurance so I never have.

On the other hand my friend loose or breaks the screen of his phone a couple times a year so insurance is definitely worth it for him. Although I he never actually took any out!.

    This has already been covered.

As per MSE's advice if you are a serial loser then by all means take out a policy.

However if you are the type to never lose or damage your device then self insure is the way to go. Make sure to reduce the risk by investing in a decent case and tempered glass screen protector. If you do lose or damage your device and you don't have enough put away to buy a new device, look into credit options. A good example is a 0% purchases credit card, if your personal circumstances allow of course.

When your home insurance is up for renewal, see what effect adding personal belongings cover has on quotes. Also make sure to look for a policy which has a £0 voluntary excess and a low compulsory excess such as £50. May be cheaper than you think.

No it hasn't! You didn't ask when the OP last lost their phone or how many they have lost. The OP also hasn't provided this information so the questions still stand.

I also decided to give 2 real life situations so the OP knows what other people do. So I think my reply is not just covering the same ground as yours.

So how is being the type to never lose or damage a device not a real life situation? Or indeed being a serial loser? These are the very scenarios one could find themselves in whether it's economically viable to take out a mobile phone insurance policy.

Your line "I personally have never lost or broken a mobile phone in my life" is exactly the same as being the type to never lose or break a device.
