It's the level 2 you need to be in paid classroom work to go on the level 3 apparently but I'm going to question that as I've heard it's a way for the college to make you do both do get double the course fees off you.SPC~12 ot 124
In a world that has decided that it's going to lose its mind, be more kind my friend, try to Be More Kind0 -
Mrs MP - I certainly would question that!
The college just needs to be assured that you have enough hours in placement to meet the course requirements. Whether they are paid or not is immaterial, surely? Not dim.....just living in soft focus

Recently I've been covering someone's maternity leave for a year as one to one support for a special educational needs child. Sadly the maternity leave is coming to an end and the child is now moving to another school anyway so that's come to an end. I have the experience and can do the job on a casual basis but the school have suggested I get a qualification as they can't offer me a permanent job with a contract without the bit of paper.
I was surprised how expensive it is especially as I'll have to spend 12/15 hours a week working voluntarily in the school as part of the course. My exam results I got are all ok but just old so they've suggeste I take maths and English at GCSEs as well. The guy laughed and said I visibly paled when he said that. Need to want for the next interview now to confirm I have a place.
Since you have already had life experience doing what would be required for the 12/15 weekly hrs., I wonder if they might wave that criteria? My daughter just got 60 hrs of life experience (US)
toward her degree. That's two years! Of course it's a private college...do you say public for colleges like you do for schools? This still confuses me. You might inquire about the possibility.Overprepare, then go with the flow.

Mila, college usually means technical or vocational training whereas university ('uni') is higher education leading to a degree. Although some vocational degrees are studied at college
Unless you are talking about a collegiate university - Oxford, Cambridge or Durham for example. The Oxbridge colleges are like subsidiary universities in their own right inasmuch as a lot of the teaching is organised within the college. The exams are set by the university (This is a gross oversimplification but I'm trying to get over the fact that the colleges really mean something)
At Durham they are not so important in academic terms. In fact they are more like halls of residence (?dorms in US speak) but you are allocated to a college at the outset. It mattered more 40 years ago when I was there because it is a very small place and there was not much private rented accommodation so you lived in college all three years. Nowadays student numbers have expanded so much that everyone has to find rented accommodation for their second year but a lot move back into college for their third year.
Confused? You will be! (wasn't that the catch line years ago from a sitcom called "Soap")It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0 -
Well I've already said I was at Durham 40 years ago:rotfl:It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0

Now there's a blast from the past, "Soap!" I used to like the butler, Benson, who had a real attitude problem e.g doorbell rings, Benson says to his employers "I suppose you want me to get that?"One life - your life - live it!0
