Debts now down to £2800. I'm slowly chipping away at it.

Our estimated house completion is the end of June but I'm not convinced. We went over to the site yesterday to have a look and although our house looks the ready the houses around it don't.
I'm desperate to move but at least every week we spend at my parents it's more money I can pay towards debt. We spent the weekend looking around different hardware stores and furniture shops to get an idea of things we like and the costs. It's great to shop around because we have found some massive price differences and we want to be sensible and save money where we can. The only big expense will be a new mattress. I've had terrible sleep because of our old one and wake up in pain. Problem is the one I want is really expensive.

My work have changed my pay day starting this month. I should have been paid last Friday but now I get paid on the last day of every month.
Annoying because my dd for cc2 goes out on the 30th so will always need to make sure I have £100 ready. It went out today and impressively I have still managed to have £100 left in my account before pay day tomorrow so I will transfer another £100 tomorrow when I get paid.

Im still trying to get as much cleared by myself before we move and before I turn to our savings to pay the rest.

£300 dd has gone out onto cc1 today bringing that balance down to £600. £600!! I only did a £2k balance transfer on it in Feb. Where has it all gone? It feels good knowing I have paid so much off :)

Cc2 still stands at £1800 so my total debt is now only £2400.

I'm starting to lose my way a bit. I'm still paying as much off as I can but I haven't got the same motivation I did a year ago. I don't get a buzz when the figures go down and it used to be my main attention.
I think because it's taken a lot longer than I thought it would and now I'm nearly at the end, the figure of £2400 doesn't look so frightening. Don't get me wrong I still want it gone.

Our house builders phoned yesterday to say they will be serving our two weeks notice next Wednesday with completion on 28th June! I can't believe it!!

My debt needs to be clear for my new mortgage so it looks like that was my last credit card payment. I will have to use our joint savings from the sale of our flat to clear my cards before our move. I think I need to do it sooner rather than later so it shows on my record that it's been paid off.
I just feel so bad using our money and not paying it myself. I feel like I'm cheating.

I'm then going to set up a realistic standing order to pay back the money each month until it's all paid back. I think I will probably do £400 a month for 6 months. Just need to work out that I can actually afford that though because our mortgage will be higher and my travel to work will be a lot more but I'm not saving for a big Florida holiday which will help.
Wish I could do it sooner than 6 months. I had dreams of being debt free before we moved into our new home. I wanted a fresh start.

I also need to save spending money for Ibiza in August.

I've set aside £800 this month and my husband has saved £1000 for when we move to pay for new things we want like a garden shed, lawn mower, plants, blinds, new lighting etc! There is no way I am putting anything on a credit card this time!! If I can't afford it, I'll wait until I can!

    So exciting LMSTM

You've done amazingly well, and it's not like you aren't paying it off - it's your money anyway, AND you are paying it back.

When you get to smaller figures it's so easy to take your eye off the ball - I've been there, but it will be worth it in the end. In 6 months you will owe no-one anything and think about what you can do with all the spare money - you won't need to put things for the house on credit because you'll have the disposable income - worth every moment of struggle :D

    Thanks kirtsypoos :)
I don't like to wish my life away but I can't wait to be debt free.
We will still have a bit of money left over in savings so I know I'm in a good position and do appreciate that I'm just so annoyed with myself.
We need to buy a second car when we move and we can't decide whether to just buy a cheap car second hand or buy a car on finance...
