Broadband problems BT can't/won't/resolve

Hi
Sorry this is a but long and maybe a bit of a rant but I'm looking for advice as this is getting beyond a joke and have no idea what to do.

We bought a new house last September and since we have moved in we have had hit and miss broadband problems - it drops in and out randomly, the speed ranges from 0.25MB to 8 MB and we've had an engineer out 3 times (it will be the 4th attempt on Thursday)

We know the previous owners also had problemsas they were family and also didn't manage to resolve them.

We have had a new router, a new main socket (but not new line) the first engineers went up the pole and changed something which appeared to work for a while but then the weather got bad and it went back to how it was.

It's getting ridiculous.. the last engineer came out and found nothing wrong, as did the one before him, although the first one did.
The problem is totally intermittent and although the weather definitely affects it, it also appears totally random. at other times.
We've had so many line tests I've lost count, and some show problems and some don't.

BT admit there is a problem, but when the engineers turn up it always seems to be working perfectly, and guaranteed within a few hours of them leaving it'll be gone again.

We are paying too much for BT and they aren't showing any signs of refunding us anything but are scared to move to another provider as the previous owners had to jump through hundreds of hoops to get an engineer out because they weren't with BT.

My husbands doing a distance learning course and half the time he has to tether to my phone (as I'm the only one with 3G coverage) to be able to get his course work as the land line is being useless and we pay for Sky and half the time we can't use any of the on demand stuff due to the BB. I know that's trivial but we're spending so much money on a service we can't use all the time.

Has anyone had a similar problem or any advice on what to do??

Thank

Bex

Are these dropouts over WiFi or Ethernet connection.
Have you used your BT Members help pages community forum ??

How much longer are you in contract with BT ??

Looks like you missed the Price increase 3/7/16 get out .

However if the problem is outside the home it will be the same OpenReach problem for other ISPs

The drop outs are wifi and ethernet (they tried blaming the wifi so we always try the wire now too)
It was just getting really slow but now the routers going orange. We're contrated til December I think and no I haven't tried the bt forums. Will that make a difference?
