Sounds like you are a business.

Business terms are very different to domestic terms.
Your experiences would not apply if you were a domestic customer

Your experiences are common practice amongst most suppliers to businesses. (some need much more than 30 days notice)

Good luck finding a supplier that doesn't act this way. I suspect your broker won't be dealing with many suppliers, if any, if they won't work with suppliers that act that way.

I don't understand why, when the original post says that they are a charity for a church hall you imagine them to be a business? The rules for Communities and Schools which include Community Interest Company (CIC), a Cooperative Society, a Community Benefit Society, a Registered Charity or a subsidiary company wholly owned by a Charity benefit these types of organisations with a promise of responsible behaviour towards them from Energy suppliers. Also They may benefit from being a Micro Business which as several very poweful protections that are better than that of a retail customer. One of which appear to be appropriate, the supplier has not taken reasonable steps to ensure that the terms of the deemed contract or the out of contract terms are not unduly onerous (ie the stiff you with big charges at a whim).
In November 2015 the 90 day notice for Micro Businesses was reduced to 30 days

The post of mine you quoted was from July.

Anyway, to address your misunderstanding, energy customers are classified as either business or domestic. I do not think the poster I was replying to would fall under the domestic classification.

    HTH :)

There are Micro Businesses - a legally defined state in between business and retail - particular reference to the relevant legislation needs to be explained or you may put people off from complaining.

    Indeed there are :)
And by definition, a micro business is a non-domestic consumer ;)
