Applied for HSBC Advanced account but not heard anything

Hi,
I applied online for a HSBC Advanced current account last Saturday. Since I submitted the form I have not heard anything, not even a confirmation email.
Just rang the customer services and they have no record of my application on the system. They said it can take 10 days to process. I'm a little concerned that there isn't even a record of the application on the system. Are they weeding out applications from people they assume are just after the switching bonus?
What experiences have others had with HSBC? Does it take this long? or should I reapply on the phone or in branch?
Cheers,
Andy.

Wait 2 weeks(+) before expecting to hear anything (10 working days) I don't recall getting any kind of confirmation email from my online application.
It ended up taking them nearly 3 months to open my account but got there eventually after much proding. I think it was the new customer line who were most helpful, general customer services were abysmal for any kind of assistance in trying to find out the status of the application- Mortgage: 1st one down, 2nd also busted

Swagbucks, Mingle, GiffGaff, Prolific, Qmee & Quidco; thank you MSE every little bit helps0 -
There are past threads in this forum about slow progressing applications during past promotions.
It will be a while before you hear from them and customer services don't seem to have access to details about online applications, so it's pointless to call unless you applied on the phone.
It took about 3 weeks for me to receive the first sign of acknowledgement by post.
Don't worry about the completion of the application being delayed beyond the end of the current £150 + £50 promotion, HSBC will honour the promotion as long as the application is successful since it's the application receiving date that counts.0 -
Thanks, just sit and wait then. Good to know the deal will be honoured if the account is opened after the switching bonus has ended. :T0

Yeh I'm still waiting to hear from them too, it got to the point when I did it that it said they need to review the application.0

With HSBC all accounts whether they're opened online, telephone or in branch will create a customer profile, which is referred to by the bank as a Customer Identification Number or CIN for short.
Chances are the person over he pone didn't do a proper search to locate the CIN. It has been sometime but if I recall correctly the reference number you're quoted after the application will be the CIN.
Sometimes it's better to get located via a branch as they'll spend a bit more time searching the bank's computer system where they can do multiple search parameters.0 -
Be patient:
- the account was (finally) opened on 27th October.
- the current account switch happened around mid-November.
- the payment for the promotion came in on 12th December.
The terms and conditions state that "You must switch using Current Account Switch Service within 30 days of opening your account." so don't delay requesting the account switch.0 -

Thanks for this info.0 -
I applied online and I then received a letter stating that I needed to provide three months of wage slips which I wasn't prepared to do.
However a few days later, I received a letter stating that my account had been opened and I received the signature mandate form which they needed for their records so I've sent that back now so hopefully the card and pin is on it's way.0 -
I opened mine by phone last week (took ages! About an hour on the line).
Received a welcome pack in the post on Saturday.
Not entirely clear whether the account is open yet. I intend to go in to branch (bringing ID and wage slips, just in case) to see if I can expediate things. I'm switching away from a premier account where I don't foresee needing the travel and home emergency cover any time soon - so any delay longer than a month will cost me the account fee on my old account.0 -
I have fell out with HSBC after banking with them for 39 years in different names.
I have gone to Santander0
