This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning all,

Bright and sunny atm but meant to be raining later on, off to work for me and we have like a mini festival there today with local bands playing and a beer tent and various food stalls, unfortunately I cannot sample the beer tent  but it will be nice to have a look around.

Meant to say yesterday DD failed her theory test, she got 48 out of 50 questions right so passed that bit but failed the hazard test as you have to click twice or something and she only clicked once but hey ho she will try again soon .

OH is charge of domestics today so he will have a tidy round and cook dinner, I shall get some chicken breast out and he can do something marvellous with it, maybe a curry or something.

Right better get on have good days all xx

Hello, a beautiful fine morning here.

I've no particular plan for today, OH is shopping and he cooks on Saturdays (and during the week on my working days, otherwise we'd eat at midnight). I have stuff to do but none of it is essential, I made a list at the start of my time off and added to it when I needed to, each job complete with the exception of one cupboard that could do with a scrub. This is not like me, I'd normally expect to have at least 3 jobs left. Perhaps I am becoming more mature in my approach to life now that I'm ancient but I doubt it.

Son came in from a disaster date with a woman with whom he had little in common other than being alive and on the same planet. At least he was able to laugh about it.

I might have another cup of tea, that's a start.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back

    Morning everyone.

It's very wet in Glasgow and think it's set for the day.

This morning I'll be taking my mum for her shopping and free coffee. I'll wave to FurryOzBeast on the way. Then I have to pick up a little clock I put in for repair (needed a new movement) yesterday. Because I live so far away the owner said he'd do it first thing this morning so by the time we get back from shopping it'll be ready. Very impressed.

Once I've dropped mum at home I'll get on up back to my own home. Journey should be free of big haulage lorries so fairly fast.

I hope everyone has a great Saturday.

    Morning all

Sunny here today so far, washing is on the line, the fish have been fed and hubby is off to work in a sec.

I went out last night and am out again tonight, not sure I'll be able to stand the pace.

I shall give DD2 a lift to work after I've dropped hubby off and then come home a throw myself into the housework with as much enthusiasm as I can muster, it won't be much!

    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

    Morning everyone

redruby - thanks for starting us off x

Hugs to those that want/need them x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

DH and myself up and enjoying first peaceful cuppas, both boys still in their pits.

Beautiful blue sky and sunshine here this morning, rain is forecast for this afternoon.

Dinner last night was pork steaks, HG new potatoes, carrots, broccoli, and gravy, an extra portions of veg, for me, I'm working my way through a bag of kale, none of the menfolk like it, but after being so poorly I'm trying to up the good stuff into my diet.

I was reasonably productive yesterday, I got the food shopping done first thing, then took DS2 to local big sports shop and bought him some new t-shirts and socks for hols. Came home then went back to town alone as I had my beautician appointment, now feel much more respectable and ready for my hols, had a pedicure and have nice pink toe nails - just makes me feel more womanly (if that's a word!). I got the ironing done and have packed too.

Today we'll be visiting the parents/outlaws and just getting bits and pieces done before we leave in the morning. I may do some baking/cooking later - if time allows, then leave some HM goodies for DS1 who doesn't holiday with us anymore, and some for us to take with us.

    Keep safe and well x

Morning all. Thanks REDRUBY for starting us off and enjoy your mini festival, it sounds like fun. This morning started off sunny but that's now changed to dark cloud! The forecast is sunshine and showers so will postpone washing all the DGD's bedding until tomorrow, which gets a better forecast!

I seem to have ended up with far too many small jobs for today. The worst one is of my own making! I decided to blitz the bedroom the 2 youngest DGDs share and it's now resembling ToysRUs. The bed is piled high with books, games, toys, DVDs etc they never play with and I am wondering if they would miss them if I got rid of them!

I did intend popping in town too if time permits. Odd things needed from Poundland and B & M, plus a browse of Fulton Foods to see what bargains they have in sell-by date stuff.

It will be something simple for lunch, maybe omelettes, and I have chicken pieces defrosting to cook for tea in a wild mushroom sauce.

Have a nice Saturday all and (((HUGS))) where wanted/needed. Pleased your results were all ok GERS. Hope it's the same for the nephews. Take care all x

Morning all, I hope you are all well.
I haven't been around much this week due to one thing or another. I will try and catch up on the threads that I have missed.
I have not long dropped DD to her new job at Waitrose. So far she is really enjoying it. It's a new store and I popped in to see how it was. Little bit too pricey for me but I did get some reduced bits for silly low prices which was good.
Today looks bright and dry but forecast does say rain ,after so we will see.
Lots of odd jobs of housework to do but after a bad nights sleep followed by an early start, I am not sure how much will get done.
Have a good weekend everyone. Hugs to those that need one.xx
Hilstep and newroadahead get better soon xx

    Morning everyone,

Bright and sunny here, but windy. Am really longing for some hot summer weather, last time I optimistically put my shorts on it made it rain!

Was supposed to be doing a big stock shop to fill up my new freezer today but clearly that's not going to happen so will do deep clean on kitchen instead. Been ages since everything came out of cupboards etc so that will keep me busy, towels need changing too. Our lovely garden chappie dropped by yesterday, arranging when he can cut our hedge, he brings a flat bed truck so can reach the top. It's a privet and is flowering at the moment so smells lovely but needs to be done. I save my £2 coins through the year and it pays the couple of hundred he charges so money is there ready.

Need to phone a couple of yards today to see if there offer some kind of retirement livery for Billy, have decided not to take up friends offer to put him with her girls. There is no guarantee of a stable being available when winter comes and don't want to put him through the disruption of moving again if I can avoid it, took him ages to settle in last time.

Anyways, cup of tea with my name on it, have a good Saturday everyone and have fun whatever you are up to x

    Good morning all,

I too have been missing in action, really just for the fact nothing much happening of interest. Himself is doing well, no fluid gain and weighs himself each morning to be sure. He is only allowed one and a half litres of fluid a day, which is sometimes difficult if you count milk on breakfast cereal and if it is a warm day he wants to drink more, but he is very good.

We hope to do the front garden this morning. Everything has grown so much during the last few days. We have had a lot of rain but the sun is shining at the moment, so going to have a go at it. It isn't a large patch at the front, but it will take a while.

Our holiday cottage is now paid for in Norfolk. It isn't until mid September but we have something to look forward to, and hopefully not many medical appointments in the meantime.

Have just put a chilli in the slow cooker, so that will be ready for this evening

I am missing Judi's posts, I hope she is OK, and missing news of the Baby House.

    Have good weekend all

  • Good Morning everyone, and what a good one it is too we currently have sunshine and blue sky, few little fluffy clouds but nothing that looks malevolent!

Well friends I am on the ceiling excited today my lovely DD2 rang me last night while the Zebra was in the bath and he told me that 'Mummy got a baby in her tummy!' while splashing around with gusto. I'm going to be an Oma again in the first week or so of the new year, we got the scan pictures (12 weeks yesterday) through on the phone and apparently baby is a little wriggler and wouldn't stay still for the scan but eventually did and DD1 said baby looked just like a 'tiny penguin' so is now unofficially known as PINGU! It's the very best news we could possibly have had, so very happy!

CANDLELIGHT in very hot countries I know that if people are thirsty they don't drink but eat a big chunk of lettuce/cucumber to ease their thirst, I guess both of those contain lots of water but I wonder if that might help Mr.C certainly the cucumber with it's fresh flavour might be very refreshing?

Happy 4th of July MILA enjoy being together as a family, those are the best of times aren't they?

Have yourselves a lovely day everyone, Lyn xxx.
