So who's really at fault? the insecure customer (who can then write a story that takes an age to read containing every tiny detail) or the salesman who didn't provide more service than just selling?

We need a referendum to determine who is automatically at fault...
And everyone would still be arguing the toss regardless of the outcome ;)

I'm sorry but no. If the OP has explained the full story and there isn't more to it, then it's 100% salesmans problem and personally, I'd complain in person to the salesmans manager.

There is a way to deal with customers. If I am told I'm getting a call back in an hour, I expect at least the receptionist to call back and tell me he's busy. Sounds like this salesman is happy to say anything and not stick to his word. I'd look to deal with somebody else if the bike needs to go back under the warranty.

    Update:

Two weeks of owning the bike and it broke down.

Reason it only done 50 miles between MOTs was because the engine was pretty much gone. He knew about this and got his mechanics to replace the things that were not in proper condition with cheaper parts. Which lasted approximately a week and a half before the engine just stopped working.

I called him and asked him about it and he said that it should be covered by warranty but he thinks I've done something to the bike. So I sent it to a third party mechanic to check it out.

Bike got sent back to the dealer the following week, and Monday that has just passed I got my full money back plus £500 compensation for the troubles, by Honda who I can only assume is based in London somewhere as I was speaking directly to them and told not to contact the dealership itself.

    The result:

Mechanic found parts that were not genuine Honda parts in the engine that have been replaced, cheap chinese stuff. This and the fact that three of them parts were not the right parts for the particular type of engine in the motorcycle I owned.

Honda dealership denied fitting these parts and stated that it was up to ME to check the whole bike over, and yes they said including the engine(They wanted me to open the engine up in a dealership pretty much to check it all).

I cut communication with them and contacted Honda customer care via the website number and they passed me onto a lad from London who handled the case, my mechanic wrote a report and honda got the bike checked out via their own third party mechanic who agreed with my mechanics report.

    Conclusion:

    - Vehicle was not roadworthy
    - Major key parts to the engine were not fitted with genuine Honda parts and they were not the right parts for that particular engine
    - Although the vehicle was not roadworthy, it was not dangerous to ride. It was just going to end up with the engine not working anymore(As it did)

Got a new bike from somewhere else now.
I also filed a complain against the salesman and he got "disciplined".

The reply I got after the complaint pretty much said that they read over the emails and listened to the phone call recordings and they believed that I was not in the wrong as Fred promised to call back and lied about being too busy to call back(Don't know how they know this) and that he was unprofessional in the way he spoke to me when he lost his temper. Got £100 off the next major service(I don't own a Honda anymore though).

    Thanks.

1/10 for trolling, must try harder:)

And this is exactly the kind of response that is driving this forum in to the ground. Well done :T
  • The CBR250R has pretty much the same engine as my bike and they are generally very reliable and easily maintained, although there may always be a duff one

You dont say what year the bike is but its no earlier than 2011, or the total mileage.

It would be of interest to know what major parts failed. I dont know of any major parts that are Chinese made only the bling bits.

Parts and bikes are made in Thailand, is your mechanic getting confused.

    Why was the bike unroadworthy?
