OS Friday 1st July

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Good Morning everyone I am up with the birds again this morning ,not good at lying in bed once my eyes are open.

Today I have to pick DGS Ben up as he is off back to Norwich for a month to earn his August rent for his student house. He won't be back until the 31st and he said as he will be at work for part of the week he will use the rest to do some revision and extra studying He really has got the right idea bless him about how to sort out both his finances and his Uni work.I don't have to drive him up there though as he found a good ticket price for a coach from Victoria so he is going on the train up to London then walking down to the coach station.Canny lad found he could get a special coach at 1.00p.m. that would only cost him around £4.70 almost half the normal price simply by scouring the different sites online .wonder where he gets his frugal ways from ;) he's a good lad and has learned the value of a shilling :):):)

This afternoon I have my history club which I always enjoy and we are studying Marie Antoinette, should be interesting .

Then tonight I am at a quiz night with my U3A team in aid of the Medway asthma self help group which is a local charity which our U3A members like to support. its going to be a busy day.

No shopping to buy today at least and its just as well really as I doubt I could fit the time in :)

Well a shiny new month starts today and next month I go on holiday :):):) and I am hoping the weather will brighten up a bit

Hope you all have a good day and Happy Birthday to anyone celebrating today, and <<hugs for the poorlies amongst us>>

    Cheers chums

Early start for me this morning, DW is chugging away, washing is on the line. We had visitors last night, dropped in for an hour or two.
The neighbours are at war, we live in a corner house, the front is in one road, the side is in another. Lots of people park by the side of our house, someone has started leaving notes on cars saying 'Your car isn't registered to this road, stop parking here or you will be reported to the police'. We park on our own drive so we don't park in either road. The neighbours are up in arms trying to find out who's written the notes. It isn't a private road so people can park where they like.
I'm out tonight for a curry and quiz night, I'm really looking forward to it.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

    Morning everyone

JackieO - thanks for starting us off x

Hugs to those that want/need them x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Now light, but very cloudy and overcast x

DH up and gone to work stupid early. DS1 up and getting ready for work. DS2 still in his pit.

Dinner last night was very disjointed, DH had a late delivery so he took DS2 with him, they arrived home at 7pm, so just toast etc needed for dinner for them. DS1 had egg and chips and I found a part bag of a ready made frozen paella in the freezer that the menfolk weren't keen on, and a part bag of a risotto, so cooked those and I had those. The pork steaks that we were supposed to have last night will be tonight's dinner with some HG new potatoes, veg and gravy.

Wasn't as productive yesterday as I should have been, just couldn't get myself motivated, but did get several loads of washing done and got everything line dried, now I have quite an ironing pile - that needs to be done today. I'll be heading to the SM shortly, then back into town later as I have a beautician appt for my eyebrows - I have them threaded, is uncomfortable but is much better than waxing and is better for your skin. I'll be feeling happier once that's been done.

    Keep safe and well x

What is a quiz night Hester and Jackie? I see you both posting about them. I'm very curious. :)

    Good morning everyone.

At Mum's today, drove dish in the drizzle yesterday and will stay until tomorrow.

Yesterday's 'work' was quiet, there was more staff than clients so I left early. I can't bear hanging about doing nothing, except at home.

I picked up a second hand book the other day 'The hood thiefs guide to Berlin' which is part of a series by Chris McEwan. As Mum is from Berlin she's delighted, it's really very light fiction with no overt violence so she'll enjoy it.

As for today...no real idea. I'll do whatever Mum wants me to do. I sure she's got a list of things needing done.

Camelot - hope you enjoy your trip.

Jackie & HH - have a good quizzing night.

    Happy Friday everyone.

    Morning all,

Today I am off to York by myself for the weekend yay! I did this last year and some friends and family thought I was potty wanting to go by myself but it was great. I could shop, eat and mooch about to my hearts content. I'm on a 12.30 train from Kings Cross, so will need to leave home about 11ish. Looking forward to some me time.

Dinner last night was Toad in the Hole. Due to being on SW for around 18 months my poor tummy is feeling the fat content already, but it was enjoyed by all.

I have a few last things to put in my case ( not taking a lot as hoping to buy a few things ) then I'm off. Hopefully I can follow the thread depending on the wifi in the room.

    Have a good day all,

    Morning chums,

Listening to the 2 minute silence this morning for the Battle of the Somme, very touching and grateful for all our ancestors have done for us to allow us the freedom we have today.

I had a great night last night catch up with a friend over dinner. Today, after work, my GF and I are going into Glasgow to redeem a Groupon offer for 2 for £8!! We'll see what the portion sizes are like.

Planning to have a productive weekend, although I think I say this every Friday. We shall see.

Jackie & Hester - Good luck tonight
    Coxy - Enjoy the holiday!
RR - Hope work over the weeekend isnt too taxing.

Have a nice day and weekend everyone.

    Morning All

Showery again today. I managed to get the grass cut and the washing out for an hour yesterday, had to finish it in the TD.

DW emptied, ironing done and bins emptied. I have to have everything done as I will only be home for a few hours on Monday before going off to Holland. Off to the Highlands today for the weekend, really looking forward to seeing friends and getting lots of fresh air - I always sleep really well there.

Defrosted the freezer yesterday, put everything in a cold box, switched it off and went out to do bits and bobs. When I got back it had defrosted, saved me worrying the ice!

Hugs to those in need, take care. XX

Morning all. Dull and dismal here, with sunshine and showers forecast. Yesterday I got a mountain of washing dry as the rain held off till early evening.

The 3 DGDs have just been bundled into the car for Mr TA to take to school. Once again I am left like a frazzled wreck, I swear the older they get the harder work they get. I will strip and wash their bedding shortly as the two younger ones won't be sleeping again till next Thursday. The eldest is going on a school trip to Germany on Monday, she is so excited and was chattering away about it non-stop this morning.

Got my shopping done yesterday so the fridge and freezers are well stocked. Once again, though, the freezers are in turmoil so will need to sort them out later.

Today is earmarked for a dust and then a vac round with my new GTech - still excited at the thought! Sad or what!! The steam cleaner I ordered at the same time is STILL in it's box but hopefully this weekend I might find time to try it out!

Have a good day all, good luck to the quizzers and (((HUGS))) to all wanting/needing them. Take care whatever you are up to xx
