Good luck ladies!Not buying unnecessary toiletries 2024 26/53 UU, 25 IN0 -
Another long time lurker. I've decided to join this months as I really need to stop spending on toiletries that are 'needed' at the time but then end up unopened in one of my many drawers, never to be seen again until I add another to it.
Unfortunately I have already had a lapse, as I ordered a new beauty box this morning. But a promise to myself that this is the last this month!
Will need to spend a few hours getting all my items listed.0 -
Thanks for the new thread Gemzie!
I'm back in again. had a bit of a hectic week so only just caught up, will have to do a big update on end of June and PP/7 for autumn once I'm properly caught up with myself.
hello to all the returning and new faces as well!0 -
Thanks for the new thread Gemzie,I'm IN. I've a UU already Garnier Skin Active Moisture Bomb Night Cream. I'm not around much the first half of this month but only planned IN is a Lush face mask tomorrow.Debt free and busy treating myself:)
No more toiletries/make up until I've used what I've got stashed since Jan 2011, graduated October 2012. Restocked Dec 13..damn those sales0 -
I am in again. I really need to be good this month as I have just stocked up on Eucerin Hyaluron cream via Boots to take advantage of their free beauty box offer.
I have two UUs today.
67) Sainsbury's Coconut Shower Creme - WBA.
68) Philosophy Eternal Grace fragrance - WNBA. It smells lovely, but I find their fragrances have less staying power than a can of Impulse and cost considerably more!0 -
Can I just say, I'm proud of myself for not splurging today.
TMI coming up.....
I have been having terrible cramps for the past couple of days as my period has suddenly reappeared after 2 years of the implant (a common occurence according to Google) and I've been eating myself out of house and home and feeling very lacking in willpower generally. I've even resorted to taking paracetamol and I try not to take painkillers unless really necessary. No Buying Unnecessary Toiletries 2023

I have wondered in the past about just having an ongoing thread rather than monthly, we can then just post our PP lists at the beginning of a new thread. What do people think?
Personally I prefer the monthly format in that I like seeing how many items off a pp list I can use in one month and I've had months where I've used up all of my pp list or nearly all... Therefore I'd still be posting monthly pp lists on an ongoing thread personally. I like the excitement of a new thread for a new month and a new start. Just that I find the shorter amount of time more of a challenge and I'm less likely to get bored as not finishing a pp list I find sooo disappointing but I'd need a huge pp list to cover a year and I love choosing new items each month to replace what I used the previous month (last month was baad  and I have things carried over so they have to go this month haha!!) I'm not very good with change though even silly little changes so I'm probably being silly! No Buying Unnecessary Toiletries 2015/2016/2017/2018

I agree with everything you said. I like the monthly threads because it seems like an attainable challenge each month. I like the fact that you can start each month with a fresh set of goals if your priorities change. I also find those really long threads on MSE are often not user friendly, especially for newbies. It is easy to lose your place or get bogged down with so many posts.0 -
Yeah that too hermia - it's often easier to remember when you used certain things if you need to look back or find an old thread for any reason because they are specific to a certain month. Sometimes I like to look back at what I was using at a certain time of the year and whether I got on with it or not. For example recently I went to get a new toothpaste and I had remembered having one I'd bought towards the end of last year that I'd really got on with but couldn't remenfer the exact one (there's so many different sensodynes!) but anyway I located it and have bought another
I'd get lost on a big thread because sometimes if work is busy I don't get on for a while and the threads move fast. I think it's nice too that new people can start at the start of a new month if they want with a pp list like everyone else - I'd probably lose track of where my pp list was and when I started the challenge if I was a new person who didn't start it at the thread start. I started the challenge originally in February last year so it was easy for me to find the thread where I started if I wanted to look back.
Anyway I have just had a shower with a UU:
Soap & glory face soap & clarity vitamin c facial wash 350ml - WBA (already have more stashed) loved this and it has lasted a loong time so very good value for money!! I'm not normally keen on minty smells but I liked this (especially after going on the exercise bike or after a shift at work) as it felt really fresh. Did the job well.
I'm going to change my pp list slightly as I have a face scrub that I forgot is 2/3 used so need to concentrate on it, and the hair mask I was going to use I can't find so I'm using another one instead this month.
Also has anyone used burts bees coconut foot cream and what did they think?! I've just opened one and am a bit confused, I did wonder if they had put the wrong product in?! It smells very minty not at all coconutty, I was expecting a lovely coconut smelland also it's not a cream really! It's a thick clear gel that feels more akin to a wash or scrub, it's a bit weird compared to what I was expecting
