Ocado messing me around

Hello, this is a duplicate post since I didn't know the best place to put it, but if that is not allowed I apologise and will remove it. Here is the full story:
Hello,
A few months ago, I ordered a shop from Ocado. 'Back then' they used to take the money *after* the shop was delivered, whereas apparently 24 hours ago they started charging before delivery.
For some reason, the payment was rejected. What did Ocado do? Nothing! I got no letter, no email, no phone call, no nothing to let me know there was a problem. When I called them up on this they simply said it was their policy not to harass people!!! Nevermind that letting someone know there was a problem is not harassment!
Anyway, today they took the payment. Because of that, my shop from Sainsbury's was cancelled due to no funds, they put me overdrawn, and they made a DD bounce. When I spoke to them they kept saying that I had given them permission to take the money so they just kept trying, and despite the fact I now have NO FOOD to feed my daughter for 2 weeks they were unwilling to help in any way whatsoever.
I am now going to be charged £35 for the DD bouncing and £10 a day for the unauthorised overdraft. Which is going to screw me up next time I get my money.
I am more upset that my food order today was cancelled today to be honest because now I have a real issue in feeding my daughter.
I just can't believe there was NO communication from Ocado to let me know there was a problem! They sad if I had logged on to the website I would have seen the warning but I switched to Sainsbury's after that shop because I didn't like the attitude of the driver.
I feel so lost, and I am panicking. What do I do? Are they allowed to put me in a mess like this with no warning whatsoever? Is there anything I can do? I have emailed the bank explaining things and hopefully they will not charge me but you never know, and even so it has still messed everything up. I just don't know what to do, please, please help me?

unfortunately they can take the money out, as by submitting the order you allowed them to take that money from your account.
Did you not notice that the money had not gone?
I would guess that from Ocado point of view you accepted the terms and conditions - in theory that sum of money would be ringfenced for them.
All I can suggest is ringing Ocado to see if they would be willing to cover your o/d charges - due to there late collection. xxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -

I must admit I thought the money had gone out fine, I am very surprised that it didn't go out. I realise they had the right to take the money I am just upset about how they went about it. They never even told me so I couldn't set up a payment plan with them or anything. I spent ages on the phone with them today and all he could say was that I gave them permission to take the money and there is nothing they can do. He did apologise because normally if the money hasn't been paid for a few months you do eventually get contacted and he said they just hadn't gotten around to me yet. It has just really put me in a mess. I have emailed the bank and I am hoping they will waive the charges but that doesn't solve all the other problems. Especially feeding my kid. The truth is I just don't have that sort of money spare. If I had known I could have set up a payment plan and none of this would have happened. But I was surprised at just how unsympathetic Ocado were0 -

You don't give a reason why your payment was "rejected", but you should make it your business to find out.
Did you actually have sufficient funds at the time of the sale?
If money is tight, then you really need to reign in your spending where possible and, certainly, you should have been aware that you had not been charged for the shopping right from the outset, This means regularly checking your bank account and putting aside any monies yet to be collected.
As others said on your duplicate thread, you really should also be shopping at discount retailers, not Ocado or Sainsbury's
The Bank may well choose to waive the charges if this is the first time you have gone into unauthorised overdraft, but if you are regularly doing so, expect the bank to be less than sympathetic.
I recommend you post on the "Debt-Free wannabe" board for non-judgemental help and support
