Gatwick Runway issues 12/06/16

Has anyone out there been successful in claiming compensation for cancelled flights as a result of the runway issues at Gatwick on 12th June 2016.
I was due to fly back home but my flight was cancelled and had to wait 2 days to get home. My family flying with a different airline to me,made it home (3 hours late but same day).
I was rejected in my compensation claim. I was wondering if it's worth fighting for or not? As the airline are claiming the issues with the runway was not their fault.
