Hi have booked car hire direct from Autoreisen, Just wondered if any one have used them recently and were you informed of any excess on collection of car. It says no excess charges on terms and conditions, But I was considering buying excess insurance before we fly just to be on the safe side.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Jake

We used them last October from Tenerife south and have used them a couple of years previously.
Fairly new Seat Ibiza. No excess mentioned or charged and bring the car back with the same fuel level as you found it.
We arrived at night and noticed a bumper scratch the following morning. No come back or attempt to rip us off on returning the car at all.
I'm flying to Gerona on sunday and only wish Autoriesen operated there.0 -
You won't need excess insurance with Auto Reisen. They mean it when they say zero excess. I haven't used them for a couple of years as I prefer the fleet of Cicar (who also don't charge excess), but have had no problems using Auto Reisen in the past. Service is excellent, though cars sometimes a bit on the older side, just depends when in their fleet lifecycle you are renting.0

Autoreisen insurance is no excess, but they do offer a top up insurance to cover punctures, damage to the rims, tyres and underside of the car, loss or damage of keys and remote control, and wrong refueling. You're under no pressure to buy. It's about €3 a day.0

Hello all,
I have been looking for such a forum thread for so long, because I had a specific question regarding this no excess and extra insurance deal.
I am travelling in 5 days and I have reserved a car with them in Tenerife. I have contacted several insurance companies to ask them this very important question that I have been wondering about and none seem to want to reply or understand or they act as if it's the first time they hear it (maybe it is, maybe I am asking the wrong thing here!?Let me know if I am!)
So my specific question was, I know there is CDW and no excess with Auto Reisen, and I understand all insurance companies offer EXCESS insurance meaning to claim the excess back, but when we deal with car hire company which charges NO excess, when would the extra insurance pay up for any other charges?
For example, would the insurance cover any repair or other charges occurring from for example an unfortunate accident where there is a dent/scratch on the door or roof or front (this is just an example)? So let's say Auto Reisen does not charge me any excess but says that I do owe £700 for repairing the dent on the side door of the car,(again this is just a hypothetical example), would I be able to claim those from the external insurance? I understand I need the extra protection to tyre, rims, keys, etc, that every extra insurance offers, but I do not understand if I will be able to claim a charge for repair, as obviously I will not have excess to pay, but just possible charge.
It's not very good to think of possible accidents and things like that, but it's all hypothetical and it's a protection to take in mind, and it's all just so interesting because nobody has commented on that before, or maybe I don't understand the nature of insurances? :rotfl:
Let me know guys I would much appreciate. Should I just buy a cheap insurance to protect those tyres, rims, keys and stuff, or should I be looking for something else?
Thank you!
*just got an update from WorldwideInsure and they did comfirm they cover those possible charges, so not only excess. Hopefully that's true!0 -
