Worcester Bosch Combi Boiler not working

My boiler has stopped working so I have no heating or hot water. A plumber advises replacement of the gas valve (£200) which then could reveal a problem with the circuit board (another £200) which, including labour, could result in paying out around £450. Otherwise, as the boiler guarantee expired last year, I could sign up to a Service Plan - I have no idea about this type of cover so is this a good idea?

Will the service plan cover an existing fault?
  • Hi, I have no idea if it will cover existing fault - perhaps if I ring to get info, asking specifics like that? Any other pertinent questions - and thanks for your help!

your best off contacting british gas

they do a one off repair thing and you then sign upto too service plan

it will be cheaper than paying whatever the rogue plumber is quoting you

  • If your boiler is 10 years old then get rid of it as parts become not so easy to obtain after 10 years. Also parts can be difficult at times to obtain for a new boiler but normally only within the first year or so. I would recommend a Veissmann boiler if you don't want to pay that bit more for a Worcester boiler. Worcester certainly is the best boiler on the market! Thing I don't like is the 10 year part s and labour warranty as Job Worth Doing are a total nightmare to deal with. When I had to get my system cleaned Job Worth Doing said I should contact Veissmann then Veissmann sent me back to Job Worth Doing. Veissmann told me that they could not fit a new heating exchanger until the boiler had been cleaned. Job Worth Doing don't seem to know what they are doing and Veissmann don't want to say anything bad about them in case they don't use their boilers anymore for Hypermarket's contracts. Only down side is that Job Worth Doing are so inefficient and unable to make proper arrangements in order to rectify the situation. Their lack of communication, co-ordination and no sense of responsibility resulted in one month passing by before my boiler was fully restored to working order. Conclusion: Perhaps it may well prove to be a good decision to have an extra boiler cover as the 10 year parts and labour cover provided by Veissmann is just not very efficient.
  • Hi, sorry I have only just seen latest messages.Manual states Worcester Bosch Greenstar 24i junior / 28i junior, installed nearly 6 years ago and the warranty expired last September. The pressure was low so I increased that and bled the radiators but still the reset and blue light continued to flash - no other lights were lit and I have no heating or hot water. The gas supply is fine. Hope this helps!

Page 30 of your installation book point 4 under filling the system, reset the boiler by turning the power off on the wall switch, if this doesn't work then a local engineer or WB do a fixed priced repair for about £260
