  • I'd spend the money on therapy rather than a new car if I thought the way you do.
  • New money = flashy car

Old money = reliable old car

Stay as you are, and you'll still have money when the others are broke again.

Perhaps you should just save the money you would spend on a car.

After all it was only a couple of years ago that you were living with your mum and trying to get a FPN, for not wearing a seatbelt, for £100 reduced due to your low income.

I think it unlikely that anybody's life changing so much in two years.

Unless you are a troll resurecting his previous sign in names.

Give Tim Westwood a call, he'll help you pimp your ride.

To be honest though, I suggest you keep your car and change your friends
Changing the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.

Love the type of people who assume everything without knowing anything.

Just because someone has a nice car doesn't mean they are rich, trying to pose/impress people. Similarly, because someone has a banger doesn't mean they have no money. People buy cars depending on what they want from them.

OP - if you just want to get from A to B, then the car you have now is doing that and is fine. You can spend your money on things you enjoy and be happy about that. If you want to travel in abit more comfort and luxury, then there are cars out there to cater for you.

The main thing is, don't let other people force you into purchases and a lifestyle that doesn't suit you. It's your decision what you spend your money on and you might aswell spend it on the things that you will value most.

Replace your peers with ones who don't care what you drive.

I know if you are a taxi driver or involved in some other manual labour type job it's quite difficult to foresee how you could drastically change your wealth. But I have been in business for 5 years now. I have been living very very poor and reinvesting majority of the money back into the business (hence living on £500 a month). My business did pull in 4-6K a month but I chose to reinvest in other businesses and pay myself a salary of £500.

I've worked hard and sacrificed the "nice things" in life to get to where I am now. No fancy dinners, no takeaways.

Don't know why you have to be so presumptuous and try to drag people down. Nothing I posted should have been taken as offence, certainly nothing incredulous to justify calling it a "troll post".

That guy just has a problem, don't worry about it.

You've worked hard to get where you are, that is commendable. Don't forget that cars are more economical now too and can be cheaper to tax. If you are doing enough miles, you could end up saving money by leasing a new car (less fuel, no tax, potentially less insurance, no maintenance worries etc). I'd probably consider that in your decision making too.

If you have worked for your money I would buy a more modern car both for the modern safety reasons mentioned and because it could make you money also, stands to reason if you turn up in a well worn focus for a meeting that may get you an order for the company it wont be very impressive compared to even a one or two year old mondeo...
