In order to help keep the Forum a useful, safe and friendly place for our users, discussions around non-MoneySaving matters are not permitted per the Forum rules. Appreciate I haven't posted much on here over the years, but for all the talk on the news this morning about a self-fulfilling prophecy, is it just me that finds it a bit strange how many new members have signed up to ask about pulling out of a potential purchase?
I know on any message board you'll get some people who are long time lurkers, but this all seems a tad unlikely to just be coincidental.
The other ones over the last four days have also involved a lot of 'hit and run' thread starters.
Could be something over nothing but just gauging the mood... seemingly like some of these thread starters.

Do your own research, in my smallish town I've seen one property be relisted already after being SSTC over a month ago. It's early days but if Brexit fears are real you will see more instances of this.0

Today my Rightmove updates have been unusually busy for a Monday, when traditionally EAs are taking bookings/offers from over the weekend and you don't see that many properties being advertised. Usually I'd see about 5 in my search area. Today there were 11 - 4 of those were properties I was previously monitoring that had sold in May/June and come back to the market. 3 of them were reductions, and a couple of the others look familiar to me too.
I personally think there's probably been a couple of lunatics posting but the majority of posts actually reflect what's happening out there...0 -

You mean lunatics that think the current situation might be a trigger for property prices to start falling?0 -
Why put down to human nature what you can attempt to explain with conspiracy?
People are worried. They've come to a forum searching for answers. I wouldn't say it's that odd, no. But I suppose the government might be using the same team they had prepped for changing Leave votes that were marked in pencil. That would make sense given they were seemingly never used on Thursday night; they must have been preparing to spam the Internet instead after their first plot was discovered...0 -

Well, the term lunatics is open to interpretation, but basically I meant people who are making up stories with the intention to make the situation more intense. Personally, I don't think they need to. It's evident now that buyers are pulling out anyway.0 -

loads of posts with people asking for advice... if they should pull out of sales, should we wait etc
not so many (none?) with people actually saying they've pulled out or had their buyers pull out0 -

"Lawyers and property firms are warning that large numbers of buyers are postponing or pulling out of property deals as a result of the Brexit vote, over fears that economic uncertainty would make their purchase unaffordable or hoping that prices will fall over the coming months or years.
A number of firms have reported that residential property deals were falling through with one firm, The Partnership, claiming 50 per cent of deals were collapsing, a level it described as “unprecedented”."0 -
A property crowd-funding site I've been investing through today returned a few £k I'd put into 3 central London flats as the site has decided to pull out of those deals. Put it into another deal.
The three horsemen of the apocalypse were seen entering Foxton's head office. The plague has broken out in Rightmove's main canteen.

This wasn't meant to come out as a nut job conspiracy, unlike the pencil example.
Someone further down the main forum has found posters on another site who are deliberately posting threads to create doubt on sites like here and mumsnet.
I'm sure there are some genuine concerns on here, but given the number of people posting on 'waiting to X' type threads and giving a blow by blow account of everything so far, does it not strike you as a little odd that all these one hit wonders are all in seemingly strong positions, and all have only found the site since Friday?0 -
There are a lot of trolls on the internet. This is a huge forum and attracts a large number of those trolls.
They take great pride in making up stories then watch as they get fed time after time by people who take them serious.
Some forums have IP trackers that can spot these trolls through multiple accounts, this site doesn't track IP's so you can have multiple accounts.0
