Hi all,
Is now or the near future a good time to load a stocks isa? With the markets being down is it a good time if I'm happy to park the money for awhile?
Thanks in advance

It's as good a time as any if it's consistent with your saving and investment objectives but the usual investment maxim applies, i.e. it's all about time in the market not timing the market, or in other words it's unrealistic to expect to be able to jump in at exactly the right time and largely irrelevant anyway in the context of long term plans. Also worth bearing in mind that it's just as possible that there will be further falls rather than this definitely being the bottom....0

The stockmarkets fell by much larger amounts last Autumn. They will fall by much larger amounts in future. They hit year to date highs last week before falling back a little after Brexit. Broadly speaking, we are only back a few weeks on value.
Trying to time markets is futile as you will never know the best or worst time will be. In most cases, you are likely to end up guessing wrong.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). I was thinking the opposite...is this possibly the worst time to buy with so much uncertainty looming???
I'm looking somewhere to put £6,000 so I'm not sure what to do. Perhaps maybe half into a S&S ISA.0 -
Thanks all, what I think I want is a stocks isa but one that is managed for me to my desired level of risk, ie stock bought on my behalf.
Anyone using anything like that?0 -
Many on here, myself included, take their first steps on the investment journey via multi-asset funds that are calibrated to risk levels as you describe, simple to own as they're run by specialist companies, and sufficiently diversified to smooth out the volatility that we're in at the moment.truebluedom wrote: »Thanks all, what I think I want is a stocks isa but one that is managed for me to my desired level of risk, ie stock bought on my behalf.

The Vanguard LifeStrategy range are popular choices, similar offerings also available from the likes of Legal & General and Blackrock.
