Have you tried a telephone enquiry on the general enquiries line as a start?

First thing on Monday, it's the only option, other than trying a different branch. Thanks fj

This is the message I get when I try to upgrade online:
Join Club Lloyds or upgrade your account

Sorry, but we're unable to add Club Lloyds to your account. Please contact your branch who will be happy to discuss this with you.

We’re making some important changes to our bank account terms and conditions. These changes will take effect from 2nd September 2016, unless stated otherwise. Please read the Guide to Changes section of the Personal Banking terms and conditions for more detail.
Please note that by upgrading, you'll forfeit any Control and Added Value Account fee waiver benefits associated with your existing account.

As well as being aware of the key account benefits and exclusions, it is important that you read the full policy terms, conditions and exclusions before you decide whether to proceed.
So there you have it. If you've ben following my thread I went into my branch and the manager said he couldn't do it nor could any of his staff as they were all be re-trained to handle these upgrades.

    Cheers fj

Wouldn't opening a new account be easier than upgrading, if upgrading seems to be so problematic?

How does one upgrade a Classic account to Club.

Online banking doesn't allow you, you get a warning message.

In branch isn't any good, I visited my branch today and spoke to the manager. He to.d me even he as manager could not do it, nor could any staff.

So I guess its the phone. So does anyone have the direct line for Account Upgrades?

    Cheers fj
You do it online or in branch however some branches can't even update an address let alone upgrade an account so best to call or do it online.

"if you wish to apply for a Joint Account or switch to Lloyds Bank, please complete an application in sole name initially, and you will be given an opportunity to add a second party or switch at the end of the application"

Alternatively, arrange for your wife to be added to your existing account, then apply for a new account in your sole name.

If it was a joint account did both of you attend the branch?

...and did he make an appointment before visiting?

We had to get an appointment to get the joint Club Lloyds.

No hard sell but we had to watch a couple of videos.
