My sister purcashed some shorts for her son from TK MAxx, she put them on him, he screamed and when she removed them she found that they have removed one side of the tag but left the pin bit still in the shorts. As you can imagine she is absolutely fuming and would like to make a formal complaint. She's taken a pic of his injury But I wasn't sure if she should email her complaint through or send a postal letter? Does anyone know who she should direct it to? Thanks

Send it through to TK Maxx head office by recorded delivery and ring your local trading standards to lodge a ticket and ask the advice..

Rather than sending an email or her complaint by letter, surely it would be more appropriate to simply call the store and speak to the manager so that they can ensure that their staff are reminded how to remove the tags properly so that it doesn't happen again?

I don't think the OP is wanting to sue tk maxx. That's not the impression I get.
But saying that, it seems they have caused the kid a lot of pain (and a scratch is a lot of pain to a child). It shouldn't happen again, and them saying "ok sure" isn't really good enough in my opinion. It needs to be a bit more than store manager. Why has she talking about having a picture of an injury?
Also there seems to be the impression that some assume that there is no procedure for removing the sharp pointy thing! Do you really think thats the case? That there may be hundreds of TK Maxx staff leaving these things in due to not being trained to take them out or check they've been taken out?
My personal opinion is that it was a mistake. Yes I know there is an alledged injury but do you really think their not told to take these out?0 -
I imagine that they left the pin in by mistake. I am pretty certain that it is not their policy to do so.
We all make mistakes. It's just that some have more serious consequences than others.
I don't think a complaint escalated to head office level will achieve anything so far as any "training issues" may go.
You could either:
(a)put it down to experience; or
(b) sue them for a million pounds.

My personal opinion is that it was a mistake.
Absolutely. The fact that the SA took part of the tag out shows that they followed procedure, and they most likely believed that they took out the whole of it. Mistakes happen, all a complaint will achieve is getting the poor SA into trouble for a genuine oversight.Gone ... or have I?0
