    2.9Mbps!!
I live on the edge of town and have tweaked my router to give me about 6 Mbps.
My friends have never been above 1.3 Mbps
I will read that thread again.

I live 2miles from a non LLU (?) enabled exchanged and we are served by aged overground wires - it's as good as it gets you know!!

    :(

My excuse is that I'd had a long day.
The 2.9!! was referring to their dream speed.
Their set up sounds the same as yours. :)
In my case, I've tweaked my router to give a better speed on my perfect line, non fibre neighbours get around 4.5.
    Move along, nothing to see.

One socket only, we've changed filters twice to be on safe side. No alarm.
I thought that I'd seen somewhere about the increased noise at night, hence my question.
I've got several old routers here, a nice Netgear DG834G would do the job of grabbing better line stats.
I just need to convince them that it's not going to be too much fuss.(I don't mind doing it).

spud, if you have a version of 834G that supports routerstats or DMT, they would be a good idea for monitoring how the line's behaving, both can be set for a 24-hr monitoring period to leave from, say, midday to midday.... seeing what's going on like that would help ;)
    ......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......

I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple :D

I've only got a basic DG834g, I don't think it works with routerstats or dmt. Bit busy, see other thread.

it depends on the version with the G-variant, OTTOMH I can't remember which do/don't, one version didn't have the right chipset but others did (might be v3 that was the odd one out, but would need to check :) )

Looks to me like routerstats probably works with all G variants
    Netgear DG834 (and -G, -GT, -N, PN) v1-4
    Netgear DG834(G) v5

Not sure what BT were thinking about removing line stats from the V4 Hub

    Thanks to you both.
I'm just having a play with both versions, full fat and lite.
I have the DG834GT flashed with the dgt firmware and both versions seem to be working.
If I get their login details, ssid and wireless key, I can copy them to my spare Netgear at my leisure, then swap routers and all should be ok? Yes/no? :)

Seeing plots of noise margin, when the line drops occur and how frequently will go a way towards making some sort of diagnosis better than what amounts to guesswork so far.

Who knows it could even be a dodgy router and the swap may even fix it but I wouldn't put much faith in that.

If this happens, it's not going to be for a few days.
Just supposing we see evidence of some sort of fault, how do we convince BT?
I'm guessing this sort of info will be way over the head of any ordinary CS.
