Will the losers accept the result and move on

Or will we forever be a divided nation?

Will future elections be split both by party and EU stance?

I fear a scotland
Left is never right but I always am.

If the result is Leave, it won't be a case of moving on, the vote would only be the beginning of a long process that would go on for years.

The world isn't going to stand still whatever the outcome. No one knows what might impact Europe. Those pesky Russians appear pretty aggressive at the moment.

No different to a General Election - People spit and hurl abuse at opposing parties in the run up, kick up a stink when it doesn't go their way, moan for a few weeks and gradually get back on with making the most of what we have. ;)

It will completely different to a general election because we are making a decision for the next 25 + years, not 5 years. If you don't understand that, read more about the issues before voting.

I'm expecting Leave to claim vote rigging and various random conspiracies if they don't win.

With Europe so weak I think just the referendum has already dealt one of the death blows .

I think there are bitter divisions in this country now because of the EU (much more so than after our national elections). That's what happens when people realise there is a danger of them being deprived of a voice. People who have now realised what the EU stands for are passionate about their point of view on democracy, etc. – much more so than those who opt for what they've been led to believe is the safe option of the status quo, even though they may generally dislike the EU.

If there is a clear result from the referendum then I expect everything to sort itself out after a bit of crying from prominent figures etc.

However, there is the potential for this to drag on for many more months. I don't know what the contemporary version of the 'hanging chad' is but a very close outcome could result in a real mess.

What would happen if there is a very narrow Brexit vote, the government resigns, the Conservative Party formally splits with its Eurosceptic wing forming a new party and then there is a general election? The first past the post system in a GE may not deliver a result which reflected the referendum outcome. For instance a coalition between Labour and SNP may form with the SNP refusing to support Brexit despite the referendum outcome.

    That would be pretty messy.

Except that was NOT the question.

In your excitement you must have overlooked the question in its entirety...

There could be some interesting outcomes due to 'foreign' voters such as me. I heard yesterday that there are 2,250,000 people living in Aus and NZ that can vote.
