Posting back the PIP claim forms advice needed

Hi

I received my PIP claim form at the beginning of the month and have since spent hours and hours filling it in, always with the intention of posting it back special delivery, so that it gets there the next day. I have just spoken to my Support Worker who said "NO DO NOT SEND IT BACK RECORDED DELIVERY AS IT IS A PO BOX AND NOBODY WILL BE THERE TO SIGN FOR IT" Is this true?

The address on the form is 'Post Handling Site B, Wolverhampton' I see no mention of a PO Box and i'm worried now because it has to be in by next Wednesday, and if I just send it Freepost, god knows how long it will take to get there.

Send it Recorded, not Special Delivery. Even if they don't sign for it you will have proof of delivery.

I think sending it by recorded delivery will delay it getting from the DWP postroom to the DWP dept dealing with your claim.

So I would just get proof of posting and, importantly, keep a copy of the form yourself.

  • Thank you all for the replies, I have another related question that has just raced through my mind. I am going to send it special delivery I think, it has to be the most expensive option for a reason, right?

Question: Should I pack the claim form into the freepost envelope they send and then put that inside another envelope, or will the freepost envelope be able to be marked special delivery?

If it's not signed for there will be no proof of delivery, as it won't have been accepted, therefore not delivered.
There is a week still to go before it's required and even Freepost should get there OK by then.

Sent my paperwork back signed for worked OK at least you can then try to decipher the strange signature and have a date of delivery.

Did you put it in a separate envelope to the one they provide? I'm not sure if I can mark the freepost envelope as special delivery or whether i should put it all inside a different envelope.

Hi I send the forms for my daughter by next day signed for delivery . I use the envelope provided which holds a surprising amount of documents . Our GP always provides a full list of diagnoses and current medications which fit inside with the claim form . The following day I am able to track the delivery and print off the time signed for through the royal mail tracking site . That is then kept in a folder together with a copy of the form and the information sent from the doctor . Her last esa form was sent three months ago and we had a letter within about three weeks confirming she would remain in the support group . You don't have to write on the envelope , the person who serves you in the post office will put a sticker on the envelope . It cost around three pounds last time and it was a very bulky envelope !!!
    Good luck

I sent my sons pip form by Special Delivery in the envelope provided. I took it to the Post Office and asked for special delivery. It got there the next day and the signature was on the Royal Mail site.

I have read people who say it delays it getting to the correct department but I would rather be sure that it gets there safely.
