Admin fee for buying a car

    Who is the dealership? Is it as suggested one of the big nationals (Evans Crapshaw, Arnold Shark, etc?)

    It really doesn't matter how the price is broken up - the ONLY figure that matters is the amount that has to leave your pocket in order for you to drive away in that car.

    If there's a trade-in, then they can pad your px price by inflating the purchase price. They can add "ryanair-optional" admin fees on. They can pull whatever they like. Just don't fixate on the headline advertised figure, because it's irrelevant - the only figure that matters is the actual cost to change.

    Its just another way of muddying the waters though isnt it?

    Buy from a main dealer with a car advertised at £12,995 OR from a car supermarket advertising for £12495?

    Well the main dealer can probably knock off £500 minimum and the car supermarket will add on a £99 admin fee and anything else they feel they can stiff you for in between.

    And before anyone says "oh it doesnt happen", thats EXACTLY the price differences i was seeing when i bought my 9 month old golf TDI
