Argos Credit Card

Hi all - I am looking for some advice on my Argos Credit Account Statement please?
I have received my statement which shows a number of purchases that I don't recognise. Basically the statement reads "Purchse at Argos Bolton" or "Purchase at Argos Preston" etc with an amount total.
I have queried the transactions and asked for proof of purchase (ie a copy of the transaction receipt etc) but Argos are telling me that "Unfortunately our statements do not list goods purchased - only the amounts".
Can anyone advise me of my rights here please as I find it totally unreasonable that Argos can demand payment from a statement without any proof of my purchase.
Many thanks for any help.

No credit card statement will list items purchases but rather the store you visited, when and the amount of purchase.
Why do you want it itemised by item that you purchased?0 -
You either bought the items or you didn't.
If you didn't then you notify that these are fraudulent transactions, in which case they should recreate you whilst they make investigations.
If their investigation shows they are legitimate they will be reinstated with appropriate fees and interest if applicable.0 -
RECREATE? or recredit?0

Sorry - maybe I didn't make myself clear on this.
I understand that the statement will only show the date, the store location and the price. However, I do suspect that a couple of the transactions may be fraudulent and I cannot find any receipts at home.
I requested copy receipts as this may have jogged my memory and reminded me of the purchase - rather than immediatley claim a fraudulent transaction. I would have thought that this was a fairly simple process for a retailer such as Argos??
My question really is are they legally obliged to provide copy receipts / proof of purchase, or is my only option to claim a fraudulent transaction, which would presumably get the same end result?
Thanks0 -
The car is completely separate from the retailer. You need to raise a dispute and the card will then follow through with Argos.0

No, recreate, it's a risk but they may well improve the OP in their new format.0 -
Thanks but the card is provided by the retailer - it's an Argos Card0

No. It's branded Argos - but provided by Vanquis0

In practice I believe the only way you'll get further info from them is to claim they are fraudulent transactions. The provider will ask you to sign a form that says you did not make these purchases before they will refund the money and investigate it. If they subsequently prove you did make the transactions then, at best they will cancel your credit card. At worst they may report you to the police for fraud, and put a CIFAS marker against your name.
In short, they're not obliged to help jog your memory because you can't remember making a transaction and don't keep your receipts.Optimists see a glass half full
