Friend won't refund me

    Start advertising now to sell them - Facebook etc and tell people as soon as you receive them, you'll post them. If you've bought them from your friend then it really is up to you IMO.

    She could help you look for someone to buy them, but your friend shouldn't end up out of pocket because you changed your mind. If you have to accept less money for your ticket then your friend shouldn't pay you the difference, that isn't fair for her

  • You bought the tickets last week, and the concert is next week - a time period of two weeks in which you were able to go, and now suddenly find you can't - although you've committed to buy possibly quite expensive tickets from your friend.

    Even if the time scale was six months, you chose to buy the tickets and if you can't use them then it isn't the seller's fault, and they shouldn't have to refund your money.

    I am amazed that you would actually believe that you shouldn't be responsible for the cost. On which basis? The fact you haven't received the tickets means nothing (it would be another matter of you didn't receive them in time for the concert). I hope you were pleasant during your conversation because otherwise, you could have lost a friend through this.

    You're the one in the wrong.

    Unless no tickets arrive whatsoever, there's no reason for a refund.

    You can't play with people's lives like that, changing your mind and letting them down.

    Appalling slack attitude to fairness, morality and responsibility.

    I did dump a friend who did this to me. She suddenly decided not to go to a concert two days before the date and did not see why she needed to pay for her £40 ticket. I was unable to find another buyer. What was worse was I had just had my hours cut at work and she knew that. She genuinely did not see herself as being at fault and I decided I did not want a friend whose brain worked like that!

    There are two different answers to this. The moral answer is you take the hit. However I doubt she followed the requirements of the Consumer Rights Act 2015 before selling on the tickets.

    If your friend had given you the tickets straight away, when you paid, and you now had them in your hand, would you still be asking the same question?

    You agreed the sale and paid for them, now, if the tickets don't turn up before the event, that's a whole different story.....

    I don't think Chapter 5 applies as the tickets are not being resold.
