    type iexplore into the search box, then you will see internet explorer as a suggested option.
    RIGHT click it and choose "pit to task bar"


    then delete that stupid EDGE icon.

    I am quite happy with Win 10 but have disabled Cortana as best as possible (you can't uninstall it).

    Just don't use (ignore) Cortana and see what else Win 10 has to offer.

    Although I have used Windows in many versions over the years I am coming to the conclusion that it is overkill in what it provides for my day to day use and I will be considering switching to a Chromebook which seems to do everything I want without the hassle imposed by Microsoft.

    There are many utilities that claim to dispense with Cortana
    such as http://winaero.com/blog/how-to-uninstall-and-remove-cortana-in-windows-10/
    No idea whether they work (or are even safe) ?
    I know that MS claim that your search will not work without cortana is a lie !!
    Anyone tried the above ?
