Then you must be willing to accept any old junk - some of the scratches, dents and marks on that were unreal. I would have sent them straight back as well.0 -

The OP even moans about the delivery parcels being too big for her front door.
Thanks for your comments. I am sure you saw the scuffs to the rattan in the photos. Obviously your standards are lower than mine and that's fine. For me, when I buy a £1000 furniture set I am not willing to accept it arriving covered in scuffs that make it look scruffy. Argos admitted that the weave was done incorrectly after seeing my photos.
Would you also have accepted the issues highlighted in the 2 subsequent deliveries?
As per my demands, maybe I am expecting too much.
BTW I'm male!
The reason I highlighted the large boxes was only to demonstrate the inconvenience of having to go through opening massive boxes and ferrying the furniture through the house for 3 separate deliveries. Not only that, the cardboard is too large to leave outside or store in my house. It's too big to be put out with recycling so I have had to take it to a refuse centre each time.0 -

I wish I had now! I live and learn.......0 -

The first 3 entitle you to cancel the order but doesn't entitle you to compensation.
Stress & inconvenience is a non issue in most circumstances and courts take a dim view on it. For example there was a couple who bought a home that they were told was in good shape etc, it wasn't and they spent 2 years unable to enjoy their home and having to travel up from london every weekend to oversee building works, they even attributed their marriage breakdown to it. And for all that, they were awarded the princely sum of £750 which works out at around £1 a day - I'm sure you can appreciate what a paltry sum that is for the level of stress & inconvenience they experienced.
Thanks for that unholyangel. Interesting info.0 -

Is it not at all possible that the "damage" was caused by yourself when you dragged the set through the narrow doors of your house? This is a question I would expect you to be asked as part of any court proceedings you might instigate...
You refused the offer of a reduced price on the original set and therein lies your problem, I feel.0 -

Well where I live they won't collect cardboard if it isn't in the provided 60cm long green recycling box. I would need about 30 boxes in that case.
Regarding the damage. Do you really think that I would damage all three sets of furniture. If I had damaged the first and was trying to pull a fast one as you are implying, why on earth would I be so careless and damage the replacements?
Anyway, I just posted asking for advice. You seem to want to be confrontational.
Wish I hadn't bothered.0 -
I can see why you are annoyed with the state of the furniture but what I really don't understand is why you would even still want this set. You have had three turn up in poor condition, it is obviously something very easy to scuff. Even if you had a brand new one in perfect condition it is likely to look worse than the photos you have posted after just one season of use.
Personally I would just take the refund and find an alternative that isn't so easily damaged.0 -

Yes I totally get where you are coming from.
The furniture isn't easy to damage. I think the damage is caused in transit. Whilst the cushions are all nicely protected in the box by plastic wrap, the plastic rattan furniture has no covering whatsoever. Therefore it can slide around in the box during transit so I think that's where the scuffs are happening.
The fact that there are many 5* reviews suggests that this may be a bad batch - maybe this batch is missing a plastic protective covering for transit?
The thing is, this set is lovely and I cannot get anything near like it without spending a lot more. I know you get what you pay for, but at the very least, it should arrive looking new and not broken either.0
