Nicosia - both Greek & Turkish parts

I'm going to Cyprus in a couple of weeks and I'm doing a day trip to Nicosia and plan on crossing the border into the Turkish part. I know they use different currencies, but does anyone know if I'm better ordering my Turkish Lira before I go or just changing some Euros when I'm there. Obviously as I'm only there for a day I won't need a huge amount.
Thanks for any advice.

I *think* that if you are only strolling round the city and doing tourist stuff, you should be OK with €uros and or Sterling, but there are bound to be exchange shops around the border.

You can pay in Euro or change currency once you are there. It won't be a fantastic rate but for the amount you'll need for a day trip it's much easier than changing before you go.
As an aside, it isn't a border that you cross. It's a legal technicality (that's probably of no interest to tourists!) but it's buffer zone aka the Green Line, not a border.
Have a lovely day,

We went one day (drove across on a day trip from Paphos)
I was bored whilst MrsB was shopping so took a stroll through the 'green line'.
Got to the 'northern' checkpoint and was asked for my passport/ID.
I didn't have it, so turned round and ambled back to 'southern' side, where they asked me for my ID ..... hmmmm, I was trapped.
I managed to explain to the guy what had happened, and luckily, he believed me!

That must happen fairly regularly!
It's a pity you couldn't go through, I still find it fascinating to see how different the two sides are in just a tiny distance. A long day for people on holiday but a great one, in my opinion.
