I have left feedback twice in the past this year( first two times ever since 2002:

1st time the device didn't do what it was specifically advertised as doing, the item was then lost in ebays "managed return" process and it took me several hours of work over more than a month to get a refund. - Ebay removed the feedback as it mentioned problems with Ebays return process therefore was contrary to their policy

2nd time , similar device didn't do what it was advertised as doing and didn't work properly as it relied on software which was provided without valid licenses. Again feedback was removed as mentioning lack of licenses is "defamatory" and against ebays policy.

As you can't leave negative feedback as a seller and sellers can have buyers negative feedback removed there seems little point in leaving feedback at all. Except for ebay to show how brilliant their system is as everyone leave positive feedback.

After the problems I have had I now don't buy anything expensive, electronic or technical in anyway trhough ebay.

Ok so I wasn't too harsh then.

In this particular case, I bought and paid for an item 17th May (BIN). 23rd May the seller said they had been away and was it urgent or could they send in a couple of days, they said they'd refund half the postage cost to apologise. I was happy enough with that.

16th June the item finally arrives. During this time I was going to chase, then they marked it as despatched, then I was going to chase but I got carded by Royal Mail, then it arrived either before or the day I picked those items up. When it arrived I contacted the seller to say thanks it was here but I hadn't had the refund offered - nothing. Gave it until last night to leave feedback - so two non-working days and 3 working days which I didn't think was unreasonable for most sellers.

I was more annoyed that they proceeded to ignore me than the fact that it was late really.

It's entirely up the buyer - it's an opinion on the sale.

I only leave negative when there is clear evidence of scam, pay-day loan scam in particular.
What, you mean you search for pay day loans on Ebay?

Don't know where you get that from: "payday loan scam" has nothing to do with "payday loan" as an item. Payday loan scam usually happens towards the end of month. The scammers sell a fictitious item and refund as soon as you raise INR. Hence a free loan for a few days/weeks to cover the period when he needs money and his payday at the buyer's expenses.
